"It's impossible to land your first dev role in this job market." Polarizing views skew reality, in the news and on social media. A few counterpoints for those: 1. TechCrunch recently reported that tech layoffs are down 90%. We're trending in a positive direction. 2. Apprenticeship programs are stepping up. LinkedIn's REACH recently opened up applications to the next cohort. As I'm writing this, Microsoft Leap's Software Engineering application is open. 3. Luke Hovee recently interviewed 10 people that landed that first role in said job market. You can find their stories and inspiration on his YouTube channel. As if that wasn't enough, he also started the Red Moon Software Apprenticeship Program. Check it out if you want to work on projects and meet other up-and-coming devs (for free). So, the next time you feel like things are impossible: Pause. Zoom out. Appreciate where you're at. Course-correct, if needed. Press onward. And remember, there's a community here to support you every step of the way. You're not alone.

AWS has an active program too, though right now not taking applications, it's worth having on your radar if you're a veteran

Great insights. I try not to listen to the polarizing views. Especially those who aren't in the industry. I don't do well with doom and gloom haha. Thanks for the perspective.

Thanks for sharing this! It’s always nice to read positive words, although it’s not an easy journey, especially for newcomers that have started their job hunting within the last year (like myself). Keep it up, we will get there!

I know some individuals who managed to secure jobs during that tough job market, but unfortunately, they have been laid off now. These individuals don't hold college degrees.

Appreciate the positivity in this. For those that have endured financial hardship to make the leap during these unstable times I feel their plight, but I think this is also very encouraging for those individuals, too.
