Are you aware of the treasure trove we're discarding daily? 💰 Picture this: every soda can, water bottle, and juice container you toss in the trash might as well be a coin slipping through your fingers. In a shocking revelation, over $600 million worth of CRV (California Redemption Value) was left unclaimed last year. That's a hefty sum of money that could have been reinvested into our communities, businesses, and environmental initiatives. By simply adopting more conscientious recycling habits, not only can we fuel a circular economy but also contribute to significant environmental preservation efforts. Initiatives are underway to make recycling more accessible and rewarding for everyone involved. From innovative CRV Pick Up services to engaging community programs aimed at educating and incentivizing proper recycling practices. Let's not let another dollar go to waste. It's time to rethink our habits and take actionable steps towards sustainability. The future is in our hands – let's recycle it wisely.

Due to the need for better conditions and specialized machinery in the United State, your compostable products aren't truly compostable. This is reinforced by the Los Angeles Department of Sanitations declaration that anything labeled “compostable” will not be accepted in its green bins. According to, Los Angeles-based community volunteer, Cassandra Marketos, "for now, your compostable products are nothing more than more trash." https://lnkd.in/dj9YUS4j Climate & Capital Media Green Central Banking Climate Group Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Los Angeles County Department of Health Services DHS Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources Los Angeles Times USC Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability USC Department of Population and Public Health Sciences UCLA Fielding School of Public Health UCLA Center for Occupational & Environmental Health (COEH) Occidental College #climatechange #climateaction #climatecrisis #climateresilience #climatefinance #climateinvestment #climateinvesting #greenenergy #greenfuture #greeninfrastructure #greeninvesting #greeninvestment #greeneconomy #climateeconomy #esg #esgreporting #esginvesting #esginvestment #esgstrategy #esgdata #esgcompliance #esgintegration #composting #compostable #compostablepackaging #composting #losangeles #losangelespublichealth #publichealth #greenmarketing #greenwashing #marketing #marketanalysis #trash #trashremoval #recycling #recyclingindustry #recyclingbusiness #recyclingequipment #greenequipment #climateequipment

This quote from Margaret Mead is what Vani Murthy (Wormrani on Insta, TEDx speaker, composting enthusiast, urban farmer and an abundantly energetic person) closed with when she spoke about what we can do in our individual capacity as we think of World Environment Day. While she spoke about many things ranging from avoiding single use plastic, waste segregation, recycling and more, her talk on home composting stood out for me very strongly. After a failed attempt, I am going to try once more. Mostly because of what Vani said. 🍃 Magic: In her words, “Composting is magic. It connects me with nature. Every time I compost, I feel I’m paying my rent to stay on this planet.” 🍃 Acceptance: When I accept that all 'creepy crawly' is part of the ecosystem, I would be able to stop fussing around. I can't ask for a walk in the beautiful forest without anything creeping or crawling in there. 🍃 Persistence: As with everything else, perfecting the art of home composting may demand several attempts. If I'm grounded in the 'why' behind what I am doing, I will keep trying. Thank you Savitha, Sujatha, Anbazhagan, Anna and everyone else for making this conversation with Vani happen. #FidelityAssociate #Sustainability #HomeComposting #WorldEnvironmentDay

Each year with Earth Day, we get the opportunity to reflect on the improvements our dairy farmer member-owners make on their farms that benefit all of us. Our commitment is evident in the substantial improvements in metrics across the our cooperative. Last year, the FARM environmental sustainability tool found that Maryland & Virginia farms emitted 16.8% less than the national average between January 2023 and January 2024. We’re proud of our members for being leaders in the field. That they are leading the efforts to be more sustainable is proof that farmers are some of the most forward-thinking and progressive groups out there when it comes to being caretakers of our planet. https://loom.ly/0rAF7WE

When you consume (anything) responsibly, you help support local communities and practices rooted in justice & well-being. See how our partners are taking action: Food Rescue US increases access to nutritious food and prepared meals among under-resourced communities. Since their founding, they have provided 88+ million meals to those in need and kept 113+ million pounds of excess food out of landfills. Soles4Souls repurposes unwanted items and puts them to good use. Since 2006, they have diverted 66 million pounds of shoes and clothing from landfills, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and helping to preserve our planet for future generations. Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub revolutionizes how people think about “things” and provides a place where almost anything can be recycled or reused. Since 2021, they have diverted 200+ tons of materials from the landfill. #onepercentfortheplanet #environmentalgiving #environmentalpartner #justice #consumption #climateaction
