Comserv are raising awareness for International Women’s Day today and this year’s theme is #InspireInclusion When the mighty Lionesses won the UEFA Women’s Euros in 2022, they decided to use their influence to develop a legacy to ‘inspire a nation’. They wrote an open letter to the Government in which they stated that they saw their victory as ‘only the beginning’. The letter pointed out that only 63% of British girls could play football in school PE lessons and concluded: “We – the 23 members of the England Senior Women’s EURO Squad – ask you to make it a priority to invest in girls’ football in schools, so that every girl has the choice.” The game-changing decision to provide girls with equal access to football in schools, as part of an all-sports pledge, was confirmed in March 2023. When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes #InternationalWomensDay impactful. The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” So make International Women’s Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women, Celebrate women’s achievement. Fighting for equality and women's rights is a day in-day out quest. But on this March 8, here's a reminder that women in SPORTS are: - forcefully gaining their places in a male dominated environment; - filling up stadiums; - winning trophies; - becoming idols, role models and icons of the younger generations; - becoming leaders; - changing reality; To more broken barriers, achievements, and milestones. #March8

The path of a woman in football officiating is not without its challenges. From battling stereotypes to breaking through gender barriers, each match is a testament to resilience and determination. But amidst the hurdles, there lies an unwavering strength and passion that fuels the drive to succeed in your contribution to the game and making a difference for the future. I've experienced firsthand the power of perseverance. Every decision made on the field is not just about enforcing the laws of the game but also about showcasing craft, leadership and integrity. It's about proving that gender doesn't determine competence, and that diversity only enriches the game we all love. Receiving the 2024 ACT Woman of the Year Special Commendation award is not just a personal achievement but a symbol of progress and empowerment. It's a reminder that every challenge conquered paves the way for a more inclusive and equitable future. It's a testament to the strength and resilience of women in sports, and a call to action to continue pushing boundaries and inspiring the next generation.
