How the Tai ar y Cyd project will benefit people and the planet 👫🌍 Last week, we were proud to attend the launch of the Tai ar y Cyd initiative. The project brings together 23 social landlords united by the common goal of providing affordable, high-quality homes in Wales - and we’re on board! These homes are designed to meet the highest standards of low-carbon performance, guided by a standardised pattern book 🏡 Here’s how the initiative will create positive change: - Homes will be built with natural materials, reducing carbon emissions 🌱 - By reducing emissions, tenants will save money on energy bills - The methods outlined in the design guide will speed up the building process, so homes will be built at a faster rate 🔨 - Using local resources will benefit our economy, creating green jobs Read the project details here: https://lnkd.in/d8ZvphDz

5 African Cities at the Forefront of Sustainability In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the world order and put a dampener on life as we know it. While it is a thing of the past now, it instigated numerous initiatives many of which persist till the present. One of these are green initiatives, which has seen many of the world’s cities make a determined effort to transition from unsustainable and extractive urbanization to one that fosters a harmonious relationship between urbanization and nature. Arcadis, a global company at the forefront of sustainable design and engineering, recently ranked the top 100 cities globally that are making an effort to be greener, healthier, sustainable, and more inclusive. The ranking, which considered efforts in terms of environmental conservation, renewable energy, and overall ecological well-being, included five African cities namely Cairo, Egypt; Nairobi, Kenya; Johannesburg, South Africa; Lagos, Nigeria; and Kinshasa, Congo. They ranked 86, 96, 97, 99, and 100 respectively.

With a debt facility of EUR 7.5 million, Triodos Groenfonds co-finances 50 sustainable apartments in the Cartesius area in the city of Utrecht. The area is being redeveloped into a lively, healthy and sustainable urban district with homes and all kinds of facilities such as a city park, primary school and a supermarket.
