There is a secret to winning consistently... Winning breeds more winning. This is something I learned the hard way back when I was VP, Operations for WOW 1 DAY PAINTING. One of the most profound lessons I learned was the incredible snowball effect that winning can have on accelerating growth. Back then we set some ambitious goals and one particular year those goals seemed elusive. Not only were we missing goal month after month but the weight of misses cast a shadow over our team and the 60+ franchises we supported. No one was feeling good about this. As we approached Q4, it became painfully clear that there was something fundamentally wrong with the way we set goals. And the constant defeat month after month was taking it's toll on my operations team and the franchise community we served. We needed wins, not just to salvage the year but to rejuvenate our spirit of the brand. This wasn't about setting easier goals for the following year; it was about a deep dive into our processes. As we planned for the new year, we spent 4x the effort meticulously reviewing numbers, setting goals that we could stand behind with unwavering certainty. Once armed with goals we believed in, we dove into execution in January. Then magic began to unfold; we started hitting our targets in the early months of the year. The impact was palpable – a surge of energy within my Operations team and a renewed sense of confidence across the franchise community. Six months in, we re-forecasted our goals upward for the remainder of the year. And the beautiful thing? We continued to hit those goals. The momentum we had gained was unstoppable. We not only met but exceeded our year-end target. The lesson was crystal clear: WINNING BREEDS MORE WINNING. Put in the time to create excellent goals, ones that will move the business forward and are achievable. Magical things happen when people get that winning feeling. What are your winning stories?
