Over 50% of sustainability professionals don't feel their colleagues are really engaged with their sustainability goals. That was the result of a live poll at the excellent UN Global Compact Network UK webinar series on collecting scope 3 data. However, employee surveys also tell us that the majority want to be involved in taking action to support those same goals! So people are ready, and willing, to take action but for some reason they don't feel engaged in what they're actually supposed to do. The good news is that some companies have already worked out how to bridge the gap. If you missed the webinars, which were packed full of ideas on this topic, you can catch up here. https://lnkd.in/eYUgnhjm . We really enjoyed speaking on the employee engagement session. In the meantime here are 3 simple things to keep in mind to boost engagement: 1 - make it relevant. People want to know how sustainability goals affect them day-to-day. 2 - make it actionable. Provide employees with tasks they can take on, master and complete. 3 - make it inclusive. You need as many people working on this as possible, especially with Scope 3. Only collective action can drive change at the speed companies need to see. #climateaction #employeeengagement #scope3emissions #sustainability
