It can be really challenging at times heading up sales teams in media operating across 30+ industry verticals (https://shorturl.at/uMvWE). I always get asked the question by my execs and clients "how can you keep up with all the latest goings on in each industry...how do you do it?" The answer is simple I follow earning releases for the following reasons: 1. **Market Impact**: Earnings reports can significantly influence stock prices. Positive earnings that exceed expectations can lead to stock price increases, while disappointing results can cause declines. This impact can extend to entire sectors or even the broader market. 2. **Investment Decisions**: Investors use earnings reports to make informed decisions about buying, holding, or selling stocks. These reports provide insights into a company's profitability, revenue growth, and financial health, which are crucial for evaluating the potential return on investments. 3. **Economic Indicators**: Earnings reports can also serve as indicators of broader economic trends. For example, strong earnings in the retail sector might suggest robust consumer spending, while weak results in the manufacturing sector could signal economic slowdowns. 4. **Comparative Analysis**: Following earnings allows investors to compare a company’s performance against its peers and industry benchmarks. This helps in assessing a company's competitive position and growth prospects relative to others in the same sector. 5. **Strategic Insights**: Earnings calls and reports often provide valuable information about a company’s future plans, challenges, and market conditions. Management’s commentary during earnings calls can reveal strategic initiatives, new product launches, or potential risks. 6. **Analyst Revisions**: Earnings results can lead to changes in analyst ratings and price targets. Positive surprises may result in upgraded ratings and higher price targets, while negative surprises can lead to downgrades and lowered expectations. By keeping up with earnings results, investors and market participants can make better-informed decisions and stay ahead of market movements. For those in the telecom industry who’ve been on the conference circuit this year (Capacity Media - a techoraco brand - MetroConnect, TMT Finance, and beyond), it’s no surprise that M&A in the fiber sector remains a hot topic. Over the past six months, our team — led by Andrej Danis — has been dedicated to exploring two critical questions: 𝟏. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? 𝟐. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 — 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 — 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝟏 + 𝟏 > 𝟐? To answer these questions, we surveyed over 1,000 consumers, engaged with 60+ fiber executives, and conducted interviews with several private equity leaders in the sector. Here are some key insights from our research: 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: There’s a significant gap between what potential sellers are doing and what buyers are looking for. While sellers continue to focus on growth, investors are increasingly targeting acquisitions of profitable assets. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭: With a growing number of FiberCos potentially coming up for sale, it’s becoming clear that the balance of power is shifting to buyers. 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬: Despite the shift toward a buyer’s market, sellers still have a substantial opportunity to maximize their value by understanding their market appeal and building operational sustainability. If you have 10 minutes, I encourage you to dive deeper into our findings.

The message for FiberCos is simple—it’s time to transition from a growth-only focus to a profitability-driven model. Industry players need to decide now whether they plan to be buyers or sellers in this dynamic market—and act fast to position themselves to move. Hesitate, and you’ll fall behind the competition or sell from a place of desperation. I’m proud to launch our buyers’ and sellers’ playbook today – the culmination of 6-months of research, analysis, and teamwork with Kanishk Raghuvanshi, Fernando Carvalho Voss, Joey Cofrancesco, Sol Silbenberg, and Udayan Maithani. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or want to discuss the findings. Read my foreword below and download the entire playbook here: https://lnkd.in/erDPgSDp
