My first love...
It may sound unusual, and some might not grasp it, but the moment I truly fell in love with construction was at a job site. I vividly recall that day; the project was Amrit, and it was a massive undertaking filled with chaos and all the typical elements of construction, which felt overwhelming for someone like me, just entering the field. I remember the scene—the hustle and bustle all around, cranes lifting high, whistles blowing, rebar flying above, and chipping hammers everywhere as I wondered what I had gotten myself into.
Little did I realize then that I would develop a passion for the insights and experiences that only job sites can offer. The valuable lessons and the hands-on exposure show you how things are truly done in real-world situations. Let me tell you, if you can navigate and walk with confidence on a job site, you can accomplish anything. Every time I have the opportunity to visit one, it brings me back to that initial day, reminding me to stay a student, to keep learning, to maintain an open mind, and to seek out opportunities to grow.
I can assure you that the construction industry is a challenging field and can sometimes feel uninviting. However, once you develop a passion for it, you'll begin to appreciate its true nature—it’s about creating the future. 👷🏻♀️💪🏽

8moHi Jamie, fantastic question i love the variety within the industry - the variety in terms of projects, roles and people that you meet. That variety means that i'm constantly learning and growing. Best bit has to be the legacy of a project - the pride associated with seeing a building or space decades after and seeing how people interact and use that space.
