Youth and Tertiary Education in Latin America and the Caribbean at USAID

If you are interested in access to tertiary education for vulnerable populations, this report is for you. #USAID #Advanceprogram implemented in #Guatemala, #Honduras, #Jamaica and the #DominicanRepublic came to an end this year. "Over the course of eight years of implementation, the Advance Program worked hand in hand with faculty and staff, administrators, technical specialists, and students at 12 HEIs across the four countries, building strong relationships and institutional trust that allowed the Program to facilitate locally owned and locally led institutional capacity development across five areas to achieve the Program’s expected results. All in all, the Program supported partner HEIs to develop or revise 22 technical degree programs, which enrolled 11,509 students during the period of performance, and from which 2,192 students graduated. Advance also trained 1,161 staff and faculty, supported HEIs to form 36 partnerships, and awarded 504 scholarships to youth. " This report offers some good insights and recommendations around reducing barriers to access, the need to improve curricula to address skills gaps, provide flexible academic/training options for working youth, and how to engage the private sector to ensure the academic offering reflects the needs of the market, but also for students to have practical experience before they graduate. #highereducation #latinamerica #thecaribbean #educacionsuperior #educacioninclusiva #youth #jovenes #fhi360 https://lnkd.in/gKpjfE4v
