I write about living creatively and this is my first post on the subject from a big-picture perspective. If you're trying to stay creative in this capitalist hellscape, let me know your thoughts.

I needed an epic story to captivate and distract me. 2023 was mostly into reading non-fiction. But, when I suffered a personal loss, I needed the resort of a story for a temporary comfort through the rough phase. The last 3 months was a journey of 2888 pages of history. History that reflects the 20th Century. Hence the apt name of the epic saga - The Century Trilogy. It has managed to capture WW1, WW2, Civil Rights, Vietnam War, Cold War in its best narrative through the eyes of 3 generations of 5 connected families across the globe. More important than the events, the story captures the journey of those five impacted families who happened to be in the epicenter of those mega events. How they struggle, survive and evolve through time is an act of masterclass storytelling. When I started the novel I had some reservations. It was gonna include a lot of words and politics, conspiracy theories, wars and emotions. Yet I took a leap of faith on the push of my husband, jumped right in. And yes there was politics and emotions and war, and yet it captured me to its depths. With all my mind focused on what the main characters would do next. A journey that showed how a small event in one part of the world can have a macroscopic effect on the whole world (Butterfly effect). Throughout this journey, I met great people and have learned through them. 1️⃣ My favourite among them is Eth leckwith - a lady with vision for society - equality for all, no matter who they are. Celebration of all cultures old and new, and fairness for all, no matter how difficult it seems. Although a heavy torch, her family carried her values all through the story. 2️⃣ Grigori Peshkov - Someone who fought for his country and at the same time, let it slip back to a domination by a few. 3️⃣ Lev Peshkov - Although far from ideal, My 2nd favourite in terms of embracing completely who he is. 4️⃣ Walter Von Ulrich - Even while belonging to the elite class, he could see everyone as truly equal and not just when convenient. He could sense a wrong idea and didn't stop at anything to stand against it, a quality inherited by his daughter and her family. Now, zooming out of the books, I have always liked fiction that portrays complex characters and their emotional turmoil. It's a reminder that every character whether in books or real goes through a journey of their own. It gives reassurance that you are not alone. And it makes you stronger than before. 💭 What's your view on fictions? 💭 Which book would you recommend as a must read? #book #storytelling #character #reading #narrative

The biggest reference to conceptualize the "Neossurrealism" series is the advent of the world's large urban centers. Where everything is plural and antagonistic and sometimes paradoxical. The result is a true polyphony of images of divergent types and characteristics of people and things. When reflecting on the future of these megalopolises, this process will not stop and it is important to be aware of this for the good of future generations and try to minimize the negative effects of this true "confusion". This series is about that.

People practicing evil in the name of good is how much of the world's wickedness happens. The more morally beneficial their goals, the greater the evil they are capable of doing in pursuit of these. Everyone has a totalitarian instinct about some subject or part of their personal lives; it's just that some people have it under control better than others. Star Wars teaches us that the urge to control and the path to darkness are universal. To delve deeper into this theme, we invite Stephen Kent to give a live lecture at LibertyCon on February 4th in Washington, D.C., with the talk: "Don't be a Control Freak: Understanding the Pro-Freedom Message of Star Wars." Not sure what LibertyCon is? LibertyCon, organized by Students For Liberty (SFL), aims to bring together libertarians, classical liberals, objectivists, and individuals passionate about freedom from over 30 countries to celebrate freedom and inspire everyone to act in building a freer future. Curious? LibertyCon International 2024 will occur in Washington, D.C., from February 2-4. Happy 83rd Birthday to Robert Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan. May you stay Forever Young. And as Bob might concur, as people today are living longer and staying more active, the need for long-term Investment Planning is more imperative and challenging than ever. While Bob and his contemporaries The Rolling Stones may have no near-term plans to retire, will you be able to retire when you want to and withdraw the cash flows from your portfolio without depleting it down the road? And will you be able to get an appropriate risk-adjusted total return to offset your spending, taxes, volatility and inflation? A robust Financial Plan that encompasses many different scenarios and variables can be a valuable template to help answer some of these vital questions while providing peace of mind.
