Mobile Robot Manipulator in ROS: Getting started with manipulators in robotics, not only ROS but going through the core concepts. Started with the OpenMANIPULATOR-X (robotic arm): - Simulation. - Controlled the arm using simulation and a GUI. I know the basic concepts of mobile robots, so it was easy to start directly with the Mobile Manipulator (Turtlebot3 with OpenMANIPULATOR-X). - Performed simulation and teleoperation. - Followed by mapping and navigation. Time to jump into the mobile robot way-back machine. ⏲ Earlier today I posted about a brand new dual-arm mobile robot...and then I stumbled across an old video for Ballbot, an ingenious robot from the Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute. Ballbot came out around 2015 and demonstrated a unique approach to mobile robots. In this case, it was a single-ball balancing robot. It was originally expected that Ballbot would be used for tasks such personal support, everday chores, and other misc. tasks.
