We appreciate the Administration and Congress for their efforts in creating and funding the Clean Ports Program. As the cruise industry pioneer and leader in reducing emissions by connecting to shoreside electricity when available, we are the pleased that today’s grants include 15 shore power projects. Since first introducing shore power technology in partnership with Juneau more than 20 years ago, Carnival Corporation has invested to make almost two-thirds of its fleet shore power plug-in ready. Yet today, only about 10 US ports are equipped with this important technology. These grants will greatly increase the US shore-power infrastructure, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in ports across the country.   For more on our sustainability efforts, please see Sustainable from Ship to Shore Report https://lnkd.in/epax2-ci which details our initiatives as we work towards net zero emissions by 2050.
