Grabbing our hammers, nails, and caulk guns, the Team Captains headed out to a Habitat for Humanity building site for Team bonding with a purpose. With smiles on our faces and sweat in our eyes, we laid shingles and sealed sides. So honored to work for Beyond BASIC Life Skills , where partnering with the community is not something we just teach to the Teammates; it is also an important part of who we are as an organization.
Join Beyond BASIC on Friday, September 27th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Edmund's Oast Green Space for Beyond BASIC's annual fundraiser weekend kickoff, Bash Before The Disc! We'll have live music, a silent auction, and food & drinks from Edmund's Oast. Let's gather to socialize, bid on awesome auction items, and celebrate the disc golfers playing in our tournament the following day! This event is FREE and open to the public, so come join us! All proceeds from this event benefit Beyond BASIC Life Skills. Beyond BASIC assists people with intellectual disabilities to achieve fulfillment beyond the basics by developing independent living skills.
BOTH of my Joes got up early, even with a night without power, to work. So thankful for the election officials who sacrifice so much to make sure we all get a chance to exercise our rights to vote.
So very thankful for election workers that get up and defend democracy even when there are major physical obstacles in the way! We had a significant storm in Summerville yesterday afternoon. There was major damage to some houses, roadways were blocked in some areas, power was totally out on major roads - but our town (Town of Summerville), county (Dorchester County Government), and power companies were out in full force helping and taking care of our citizens. Many neighborhoods are still without power, but those workers got up and went to work - because elections are critical to our democracy. Thank you, election workers! Yesterday was a whirlwind of excitement for @beyondbasiclife ! We had over 50 people join Beyond BASIC in a culinary experience with our inaugural Beyond Progressive Dinner Tour. Guests and volunteers traveled around our beautiful Summerville to taste amazing dishes provided by some of the best restaurants! Not only did they get an amazing experience, but they did it to support our little nonprofit. Because of everyone's generosity, our Teammates will be able to get more programming, have more field trips, and develop deeper relationships with our town and community. I cannot thank the restaurants enough who opened their doors for the 5 groups of guests to have a quick tasting of some of their best dishes. If you have not eaten at any of these restaurants, please do! We enjoyed every bite! And a special thank you to The Azalea for teaching our Teammates how to make two amazing cocktails, using the herbs from our garden. Everyone raved about them!
