🍊 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 ♻️ For every glass of freshly squeezed orange juice that is consumed, an equal weight of peels ends up in the trash. In the Netherlands, this amounts to a staggering 20 million kilos of peels per year, originating from hospitality venues and supermarkets. At PeelPioneers, we have developed a circular method to transform this former waste stream into valuable raw materials for new products. Our innovative approach ensures that nothing is lost and everything is reused. For us, sustainability is not a catch phrase. It’s interwoven into the DNA of our company, our mission-driven philosophy, and our daily operations. We're invested in the long-term health of the planet while simultaneously making delicious scratch-made food & drink. We put sustainability into action by thoughtfully sourcing ingredients, painting with non-volatile compounds, choosing efficient HVAC and lighting systems, repurposing wood from fallen trees and old barns, diverting 90% of waste from landfills through robust composting and recycling programs, and more. We feel we're changing the landscape and blueprint for how a high-volume sustainable restaurant can be and operate in the present day. Sustainability at Farmers Restaurant Group goes far beyond just Earth Day. It's Earth Day - here are 5 things we're doing to sip our way to a more sustainable future: 1. 100% sustainably sourced tea. This means every ingredient, tea, herb, spice or fruit, is reviewed and certified under third-party standards. This journey was an intricate process that required us to discontinue some teas along the way, prioritising sustainability over certain blends. 2. Partnering with Qantas Future Planet. A strong and reputable partnership is essential in our contributions to a low-carbon economy. This program is helping us offset our carbon footprint emissions, which now include postage, freight, and third-party electricity. 3. Prioritising waste management. Through recycling, reusing and composting T2 products, our retail stores average a landfill diversion rate of 91%, with our DC and Support Office improving to just under 90% in recent years. 4. Offering sustainable packaging. For us, our iconic packaging is about more than aesthetics. Our products contain plant-based polybags, FSC cardboard boxes, and removable sleeves to encourage reuse. ARL logos also help customers understand how to dispose of each product properly. 5. Using locally sourced, sustainable materials in all our stores. Each in-store environment is made through a sustainable lens, working with a blend of recycled timbers and sustainably certified materials such as Betta Stone countertops, a material developed and made in Melbourne from 80% recycled glass. There's still work to be done, but we are proud of the initiatives taken as a B Corp-certified business and will continue to provide full transparency in this space. 1850: We collected glass bottles to resell to breweries. 2014: Rawlings developed the lightest water bottle in the UK. Today: We have sustainability at the forefront of our mission. Since our doors first opened, Rawlings have done things differently. We’ve always found ways to make our business that little bit more sustainable. So for us, being the company that drives new methods to make ourselves more environmentally conscious has been always been important. Because as in any industry, until someone starts: We’re all stuck in the past… But our past is far from usual. Since the day William Henry Isaac Rawlings made the decision to set up the horse and cart to collect glass bottles and reuse them, we’ve been ahead of the curve. So today, we’re constantly looking for ways to continue our founders legacy. How’re you working to make your business more sustainable in 2024?

3moQuite rare to see a company actually implementing initiatives rather than just talking about what they are going to do. Great job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
