We went to a St. Patrick's parade today in Dallas. Why was it on a Saturday and a day before St. Patrick's Day? No idea. Perhaps, operationally, that was the most rational outcome. I had no expectations and no prior experience of watching such parades. I also don't drink (which might be shunned upon on such a day 🤷🏼♂️). So, it was an interesting experience to say the least. As all celebrations go, people enjoyed themselves - and this is great to see. I love seeing people come together and share joy and laughter. As businesses go, they didn't pass on the opportunity to advertise. Most of the actual parade were various different companies with big banners and much of green color. I saw businesses from local pizzeria and a small lawyer firm to gyms to larger corporations and banks. A long line of trucks and other huge vehicles with plenty of people on top dancing and throwing various green and gold colored freebies towards gathered onlookers. So a few lessons I took away with me: 1. Parades and celebrations can be huge and a great opportunity to advertise and get a new market share. Next big thing? I'd imagine a solar eclipse in April. 2. It's always great to get out and celebrate together, whatever the occasion might be. I wasn't particularly in the mood this morning, but this outing made me feel better. 3. With so many people gathered together in the same area, it's a good place to gather data and push petitions. There were several groups of people gathering signatures for ongoing petitions (mostly about decriminalizing certain behaviors). But what a smart move - a lot of slightly inebriated people having much fun and not listening much to what exactly they are signing (without intention of sounding ominous). All in all, don't forget to get out and celebrate different occasions! Happy St. Patrick's Day! #stpatricksday #advertising #marketing #petition #takeaway

What started as an underground dinner series has become a household staple product that has raised more than $17 million dollars and made it’s way onto more than 5000 store shelves. It’s FLY BY JING of course. Jing Gao is a true example of what persistence, using your voice and keeping your ears to the ground can do for your business success. Her advice to you? ‘Persistence is key. Buyers are inundated with new and exciting products to consider daily, so identify your target markets and be bold about getting your foot in the door. Likely, your first go at it won’t be a success. And while hearing a ‘no’ can be discouraging in the moment, it’s important to get back up and try again. And again. And again.’ ⭐️Bonus GIVEAWAY! Once upon a time in the IT world, we were on a mission to make new buddies—dealing with big budgets, fighting sales battles, and trying all sorts of cool tricks. But then, our smart IT buddy said, 'Why not stick with the pals we already have?' So, we decided to take the chill route of repeat business! Imagine a laid-back party where costs were low, and everyone was having a blast. Our current pals stuck around, and our money was high-fiving us. Now, here's the scoop: for any services company, repeat business is like having a secret sauce for success. It's the unsung hero that makes everything awesome. But some companies seem to miss the memo on how important it is to keep the current pals happy and make friendships that last longer than a pizza delivery. If an IT company is struggling to keep new pals, there's a puzzle to solve—a mystery that needs cracking before it turns into a bummer of a story! Don't get me wrong here, Cracking new logo's are equally important but if whole strategy revolves around finding new tree all the time then perhaps time to reflect. #ITAdventure #RepeatSuccess #SmartMoves

What do you see? A messy hallway? A lot of misplaced stuff? A job to do? Someone lacking in their clean up skills? I see creativity. I see curiosity. I see fun. I see family connection. I see childhood at its finest. I see imagination. After my son participated in the annual Third Grade Business Exposition last year, my children were so ignited by the idea, they started their own expo, and still do it from time to time. They gather their toys, art supplies, trinkets and books, and arrange it so my husband and I can peruse and shop the hallway, aka the aisle. It’s the real deal! They set prices, give us their best product pitches, and send us home (into our bedroom) with a bag full of goodies and a few less dollars. Each time they do it, their confidence, excitement and ideas grow. What if we would’ve said no to their expo? Ideas birthed from it would’ve never been born. Possible family bonding missed out on. A pillar or two of confidence untapped. Yes, it’s a mess. Yes, it’s frustrating when there are tears because we’re making them clean it up. Yes, it’s inconvenient. And if you’re a person who “just can’t deal with a mess”, I gently ask you this: can you deal with the consequences of not allowing a mess, I.e. the missed opportunities? Would you allow yourself to see past the mess, and instead visualize the possibilities? I’m not suggesting you never clean your house or promote clutter, or let your children’s chores slide. My kids aren’t perfect geniuses. We’re not some weird (at least not too weird), parents who enforce activities like this. We simply say “yes” to the creativity, fun, family connection, curiosity, childhood, and imagination. At the same time, we say “yes” to the mess; to the tears, frustration and inconvenience. It’s all worth it. You can’t get the good stuff without the hard stuff. Likewise, you can’t see the good stuff without looking past the bad stuff, either, like in the photo. So again, what do you see? #fun #curiosity #creativity #imagination #familyconnection #mess #frustration #thursday
