"We are excited to share new activities on the HUMANITA project! Earlier this week, our partners from the University of Parma, Italy, visited us for a working session and completed the second drone recording of protected grasslands and the entire area of Lower Kamenjak, as well as the recording of an educational trail with a 360˙ camera. Through these recordings, we are monitoring the fragmentation of the soil in protected grasslands and the formation of wild paths. 🌱 With the HUMANITA project, we are researching the impact of tourist activities on protected areas, aiming to minimize human impact on the environment. Lower Kamenjak and the Medulin archipelago are one of the five pilot areas of the project where monitoring activities are taking place. 🌍💚 The project is supported by the Transnational Cooperation Programme Central Europe 2021–2027, with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund." #humanita #Interreg #InterregCentralEurope #tourism #researchanddevelopment #sustainability # greenerCentralEurope #commonheritage #environmentalprotection #svfuniza #euracresearch #unipr #Notitia #unescochair #fhkaernten #cooperationiscentral #unesco_mca #visitgeoparkkarawanken #npmalafatra #CEEweb #kamenjak #PNATE #BNPI

We are pleased to present the Transnational Monitoring Strategy, developed by our partner Carinthia University of Applied Sciences(CUAS) , which represents one of the key deliverables and first output within the HUMANITA project. The strategy provides a framework for the development, testing, and evaluation of monitoring systems aimed at improving visitor management at pilot locations. The significant landscape of Lower Kamenjak and the Medulin Archipelago is one of the five pilot areas featured in this strategy, showcasing our monitoring activities focused on achieving effective and sustainable visitor management practices in protected area. Florin Stoican (President of Kogayon Association and Director of ”Oltenia de sub Munte” UNESCO-aspiring Geopark) taught us the importance of “Networks as a Key in Biodiversity Protection”. His goals for the geopark are: constructing a network of trekking trails, biking trails, climbing, events and festivals. To quote some of his words: ”Starting with the Văcărești Natural Parks projects, we’ve started to develop a social movement in Romania, because after this success (Văcărești Natural Park - the first urban protected area in Romania), a lot of organisations, communities and people from all over Romania came to us, asking to extend this concept to different cities. And now we are already speaking about a network of urban protected areas.” Until then, let's start working together on that greener future! #ClimateChangeSummit #Sustainability #green #BetterTogether #GreenTech #ClimateAction #GreenInnovation #CCS2023 #inProgress #SolutionsLoading #Future #BRD #SIS #SocialInnovationSolutions

In April 2024, our partner Institute for Eurac Research in collaboration with project partners successfully developed The Report on Tourists’ Survey results. The elaboration of the survey addressed to tourists visiting protected areas aimed at understanding tourists’ attitudes towards nature and, particularly, protected environments. The overall objective was to investigate, understand, and accordingly try to improve the mutual interaction among these delicate ecosystems. Ultimately, the aim was to highlight the factors that define tourists’ behaviors, examining their prevalence, significance, impact, and potential to influence tourists’ attitudes towards sustainability. The activity took place with the distribution of questionnaires to those tourists visiting the five project pilot areas scattered in Central Europe among Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy, Hungary, and Croatia, mostly mountain areas but also coastal. The on-site distribution of the surveys was carried out between July and October 2023. Except for being an interesting read, this report is extremely important in efforts to raise awareness of the potential impacts of our actions, even if we think they are harmless. https://lnkd.in/emVkKDGe #humanita #Interreg #InterregCentralEurope #tourism #researchanddevelopment #sustainability #greenerCentralEurope #commonheritage #environmentalprotection #svfuniza #euracresearch #unipr #Notitia #unescochair #fhkaernten #cooperationiscentral #unesco_mca #visitgeoparkkarawanken #npmalafatra #CEEweb #kamenjak #PNATE #BNPI

Last September, the city of Macerata hosted all the partners of the RETOURN - REcovery TOURISM after Natural Disasters project for 5 days of workshops and activities on team work, analysis and project design. The partners experienced, through the mode of serious play and training by facilitators Mattia Festa and Roberto Grifalconi, how group dynamics are the fundamental starting point for the achievement of an aim and, in this case, of a project intended to deal with the consequences of a natural disaster at the tourism level. The RETOURN project partners thus became trainers themselves, for a multidisciplinary group of experts in the tourism, multimedia and social areas. Let's take a look back together this week. Recently, we had the opportunity to deeply explore the lives of the fishing communities in northern Portugal, thanks to an illuminating presentation by Abel Coentrão (Bind'ó Peixe - Associação Cultural) at the project's II Transnational Forum. This encounter allowed us to closely understand the challenges and resilience of these brave mariners. 🌊 Celebrating Maritime Culture in Our Transnational Community At SEALabHaus, we are proud to connect and highlight the rich maritime traditions of the fishing communities that are part of our transnational collaboration. From the coasts of Portugal to Spain, France, Ireland, and beyond, each region contributes a unique and invaluable story that is essential for understanding and preserving our blue heritage. 🐟🌍 Inspired by the vibrant discussions and the exchange of ideas about sustainable tourism that we had at our II Forum in Porto, we reaffirm our commitment to these communities. These are not only vital to the local economy but also guardians of ecological techniques and knowledge that can teach us much about sustainability and resilience. 🔗 At SEALabHaus, we are working to develop the 'Atlantic New Bauhaus Strategy for Blue Tourism, Heritage, and Maritime Culture', a key objective within our project. This strategy will effectively integrate blue tourism with heritage conservation and the promotion of maritime culture. We would like to hear from you: What aspects of maritime culture interest you the most? How can we work together to promote and protect these communities? #MaritimeCulture #FishingCommunities #BlueTourism #Sustainability #SEALabHaus #BlueHeritage Interreg Atlantic Area

[PROJECT SReST] 🌍 The Municipality of Postojna is the lead partner of the SReST project, whose main objective is socio-economic development based on the preservation of the agricultural biodiversity of the Danube Region, the development of sustainable tourism, and the strengthening of its resilience to climate change. 🌿 📈 By investing in the development of economic resilience and attractiveness of rural areas, the project addresses the disparities between more developed sustainable destinations in the European Union and the challenges of demographic change linked to migration and emigration. By focusing on biodiversity, food heritage and local identity, the goal is to broaden the tourism offer and promote "slow food" tourism based on the exploration of gastronomic traditions and the local communities that preserve them. In this way, the aim is to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth and social change towards a more sustainable future, including in the field of tourism. 📈 The solutions developed by the project partners will not be limited to the local level, but will have a global impact. Therefore, the success of the project will be based on close cooperation between partners from different countries and regions. The Municipality of Postojna, as lead partner, will play a key role in steering the dialogue, the exchange of experiences and the joint work process. 🤝 We will be collaborating with: Ekonomická univerzita v Bratislave, Active Nativa, Institute for Sustainable Growth, Active Agricultural cooperative Island of Krk, Active Municipal community Dubašnica d.o.o, Active Hajdú-Bihar County Government, Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency - SERDA, Tourism organization of Western Serbia, Association of Citizens "Vedrina Polimlja", NGO Kisele vode. Stay tuned on the updates! The project is carried out within the Interreg DANUBE Programme and is co-funded by the European Union.
