Has your supply chain found its Ikigai? I am sure you have been hearing the term Ikigai a lot lately. In essence, it's a framework that maps the overlap between various dimensions of your being to arrive at a configuration that is in harmony and becomes your purpose. Well, your supply chain is also seeking its Ikigai. A harmonious intersection between serving your customers, being profitable, continue being in business, and being responsible to the planet. Unfortunately, most supply chains are not built for this harmony. Being profitable and serving your customers is the intersection most focused upon i.e. Cost vs Service tradeoff. After the events in the recent past, Risk is often added as an afterthought, and Sustainability is slapped on as a post-facto analysis in case someone asks for it. So what could you do to move towards supply chain Ikigai?
