Long Version (Not for Very Busy People) Hello Sweepstakers, You may not believe it, but time has flown again and we are again launching the 2025 6 Nations Rugby Sweepstake fundraiser. The 6 Nations Rugby Tournament kicks off in just 2 weeks on 31st January - for many people is the best annual rugby tournament in the world. WHY WE DO IT We have run the Sweepstake for many years and the best guess we have is that this is the 13th year in a row that we have raised funds for charity. On average we raise circa £2500 / Year via the Sweepstake so in total the Sweepstake is estimated to have raised circa £30,000 for different charities. HOW TO TAKE PART Taking part in the Sweepstake is so easy. Following each round of the five rounds of the 6 Nations we publish a League Table showing each participants progress and have a wee bit of banter and it has been known to have the odd spot prize. TIPS FOR YOUR PREDICTIONS The favourites for this year’s 6 Nations will be France or could it be Ireland or Scotland or England. Any of these four could, based on recent form, be victorious however I think France will just do it. Wales have not won in a game over a year and Italy do not quite have the fire power needed. Ireland could run France close, if Ireland beat France in Round 3 at home the title could be Dublin bound. England are not a settled side and seem unsure of how they want to play. Scotland look very good and have one of the best sides that they have had in a long time. Perhaps they will be the surprise of 2025? The bookies at this stage seem to have Ireland as slight favourites just ahead of France but wouldn’t it fantastic if Scotland could win by playing really attractive rugby and bringing back memories of 1990 when they won the Grand Slam. This partnership offers a unique opportunity for a charity with national reach to collaborate with the top league of English rugby and its 10 member clubs across the Gallagher Premiership, the Premiership Rugby Cup, and the U18s Academy League. https://lnkd.in/dgiaTsXC Support Rugby Schools in Venezuela with Movember! 🏉 This "Movember" (our November Mustache), we're combining the spirit of rugby with a commitment to men's health and community support. We are raising funds and collecting rugby equipment to send to schools in Venezuela, where rugby is growing but resources are scarce. Our goal is to gather 50-60 rugby balls to help bring the game to more kids and inspire the next generation of players with a sport based on values and principles that also support kids on developing soft skills – our core focus. To be able to commit to this goal, we would like to collect 2.000,00€ to buy these rugby balls and cover the logistic expenses, and with your support, reach this amount by the end of November!! Through this effort, we not only support rugby projects in schools but also raise awareness for men's health, as Movember encourages us all to focus on well-being and awareness. Every contribution helps — whether you’re donating rugby gear, spreading the word, or supporting our fundraising efforts.

A New Year opportunity for the right kind of charity! 2 year partnership with Premiership Rugby. You don't see these kind of opportunities come up often, and with such clearly thought out processes and documents, so one for many charities and fundraisers to actively consider. I've put some free tips and thought starters below from having approached these kinds of opportunities so many times in my career. Firstly, I would always recommend reaching out in the first instance when you see these kind of opportunities if they genuinely feel like a fit, so it's great to see this has been proactively offered by Laylla. Especially as the themes are so broad. These conversations have helped me so many times to decide whether or not it was worth pursuing an application. But what do you ask to help you get this clarity? Here's some ideas I've used successfully on scoping calls and internally: - What are your motivations for launching this new type of partnership? - What difficulties at [org/company] are you hoping this new partnership can help you overcome? - At the end of the two years, if you were sharing a story of impact from this partnership, what do you think the most powerful story would be? - Who is your main audience for this partnership? Who do you most want to see, and be influenced by it? - Is there a partnership you've worked on already, or one you've seen in the sports space, that you really admired? And why? Technical questions are trickier so think about the ones that would really help your cause to decide, but from my experience I'd look at: - Do you have any preferences for brand recognition amongst fans for your chosen charity partner? (ie do you want to make transformative change for a less heard of name, or do you want that instant recognition?) - Is it strongest to have a charity that crosses all your chosen themes, or one that laser focuses on a single theme? - Who, or what roles, are making up the decision making panel? You also need to satisfy yourself internally of a couple of points and ideally also discuss with the potential partner: 1. That the fundraising opportunities will produce a reasonable return (are there, for instance, opportunities to also be selected/invited by sponsors to their charity processes) - and what support you'd get from the partner to raise money (vs having to do everything yourself)? If you have 'ready to go' sports offerings (races, challenges) can these be promoted? 2. Gambling/alcohol - particularly as themes include children and health/wellbeing - your brand will be alongside alcohol brands that I can immediately see and a lot of high level sports involves gambling now unfortunately. How will you approach this with that in mind? Its well worth checking your ethical policies before proceeding further, or reaching out to your fundraising trustee to get their experiences. Tasmanian greyhound racing clubs are deeply integrated into the local community, actively supporting a wide array of grassroots organisations and initiatives. In Hobart, the Greyhound Racing Club has embraced local sporting clubs by hosting sporting clubs challenge nights that benefit a variety of clubs across sports ranging from AFL to netball, offering both direct sponsorships and opportunities to win additional funding. Similarly, the Launceston Club enriches the community with race days tailored for aged care residents, creating memorable social experiences. Moreover, a collective initiative across Tasmanian clubs culminated in a generous $35,220 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charity, significantly enhancing the support facilities for families of children undergoing medical treatments in Hobart. These initiatives underline the greyhound racing industry’s dedication to nurturing and giving back to the communities they operate in, reinforcing their role as key players in building and sustaining local community spirit. 2024 Christmas Hamper Appeal at Newton Abbot Rugby Club. 🎁 As you are all most likely aware, living costs have not improved for anyone over the last few years. For those already on the cusp of survival, the latest inflation hikes mean simply putting food on the table to survive is not getting any easier. Some have to make the decision between Food or Heating the house. Parents are not eating, so their children can, and families eat once or twice a day instead of three times because they simply can not afford to put the food on the table. We will not fix the problem overnight or combat child poverty with a Christmas Hamper, but we can make Christmas a little easier for those families who do not deserve the hardship they find themselves in. ❤️ We will look to supply 150 Hampers, that's around 600 people, over the Christmas period. CAN YOU HELP? 🙏 There are many families and individuals that find themselves in a much better position than those that qualify for a hamper this year. Each of the hampers the Rugby Club supply will cost around £30, but not without the help of our own Commercial Partners providing products either much cheaper than retail price or free of charge, which we are incredibly grateful for.
