The new API Service Category SQ, announced in June 2024, is set to advance motor oil performance for gasoline engines, with a first license date of March 31, 2025. It will align with ILSAC GF-7 standards and introduce new viscosity grades like SAE 0W-8 and SAE 0W-12, as well as a sulphated ash content (SASH) limit of 0.9% for Resource Conserving oils. Debate continues over whether non-ILSAC viscosity grades should also include the SASH limit, with some industry representatives arguing for flexibility. Have you seen the latest Nihot SDS installation for the alternative fuels (RDF) industry? Continental Cement Co Davenport expanded their Green America Recycling installation to process more RDF with the intention to increase the kiln’s total subsitiation rate (TSR). An awesome step towards a greener cement. Props to the CCC/GAR teams! The Nihot SDS in this installation will remove inert (non-combustible) materials and batteries to (1) mitigate hotspots/fires in the reshredders and (2) increase the average BTU/lb value of the fuel.
