🌍Sustainable Solutions for CPP Film Production: Eliminating Fluorine-Based Additives 👉Cast Polypropylene (CPP) film is produced through a cast extrusion process, resulting in a film known for its excellent transparency, high gloss, good stiffness, moisture resistance, superior heat resistance, and ease of heat sealing. These properties make CPP film ideal for various applications, including packaging for food, pharmaceuticals, household paper, clothing, daily necessities, and industrial products. The production process of CPP film involves melting and plasticizing polypropylene (PP) resin in an extruder, followed by filtration. The molten PP resin is then cast onto a cooling roll via a die, where it rapidly cools into a film. After thickness measurement, traction, corona treatment, and flattening, the film edges are trimmed, and the film is rewound into CPP film rolls. After aging for 24 hours, the film is slit to the desired specifications and packaged. 🌟Common Production Challenges Higher processing temperatures and shear rates are typically employed in cast PP film extrusion, which can lead to die build-up. This results in film defects and necessitates frequent machine downtime for die cleaning. A conventional solution has been the addition of small amounts of fluoropolymer processing aids. However, new regulations in Europe and the USA are imposing limitations and bans on the use of fluoropolymers and PFAS-containing chemicals. This creates a pressing need for sustainable alternatives. 💚Sustainable Solutions: PFAS-Free Polymer Processing Aids ✅SILIKE introduces SILIMER 5091, a PFAS-free polymer processing aid developed to address melt fractures in cast films without the use of fluorinated chemicals.
