In classical, 4-field anthropology, Anthropology of Religion was a required course. The student was introduced to non-Western ways of knowing rather than just binary, dualistic EuroAmerican systems of thought. Typically, the Mayan Popol Vuh was required reading in such courses. Here is a great article to remind us that its not so much how smart we think we are, but rather how much humankind has forgotten of its collective past that defines us. "Other cultures are not failed attempts at being you, they are manifestations of the human spirit."--Wade Davis, Anthropologist. Here, you can access the Popol Vuh in a shortened, very readable and approachable telling, appropriate to our time of climate upheaval and biodiversity catastrophe.

Did you know that the Celts had birth trees instead of birthstones? ArborNote’s Tree of the Week is the February Celtic birth tree, the European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior)! This type of tree is native throughout Europe, from the U.K to northern Iran. The European Ash is a large, relentless species whose roots penetrate deep into the Earth. It’s often referred to as the “World Tree” because of it’s deep roots and it’s strongly associated with the vertical link between otherworldly realms such as the underworld, middle earth, and the spiritual world! According to the mythology, the first man came from the bark of an Ash Tree. The Celts also are believed to have burned the wood from the tree to ward off evil spirits! #treecareservices #treecare #treecareindustry #ArboristLife #TreeCareExperts #arborist

𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 Rabbits hold symbolism of life across various cultures due to several factors related to their biology and behavior: Fertility: Rabbits are prolific breeders, well-known for their large litters. This natural abundance translates to a symbolic association with fertility, new life, and procreation. In ancient Egypt, rabbits were linked to the goddess Isis, who represented motherhood and rebirth. Renewal and Growth: Rabbits are fast-growing animals, reaching maturity quickly. This characteristic ties them to themes of renewal, growth, and new beginnings. In Celtic mythology, rabbits were associated with the moon, a symbol of cycles and renewal. Spring and the Earth's Bounty: In many cultures, spring is seen as a time of rebirth and renewed life on Earth. Rabbits are often associated with springtime due to their connection with fertility and the abundance of the natural world. Adaptability and Resourcefulness: Rabbits can thrive in various environments and survive on minimal resources. This characteristic makes them a symbol of resilience, adaptability, and finding ways to flourish even in challenging circumstances. It's important to note that the symbolism of rabbits can vary depending on the specific culture or context. However, the core themes of fertility, renewal, and life are common threads across many traditions.

All Shiva temples in Bharat are aligned in the same line! The majority of Shiva temples in India, from Kedarnath to Rameshwaram, are perfectly aligned along the longitude of 79 Degrees E. The exactness of alignment shows that ancient people knew more than we might know today. And it blows my mind to even think about it. I mean today, we can't imagine going anywhere without GPS, but our ancestors found their way through to understand astronomy and geography. Here's some insights- 📍They had this line, the 79th meridian east, also known as Madhyarekha, that was their choice for building temples. And get this, 📍They aligned these temples with Mount Meru, which they believed was the "Navel of the Earth." The temples weren't just placed randomly. 📍They were connected to the North Pole star, Dhruva, and circumpolar constellations, symbolising a link to heaven. 📍They used ancient sundials and timed everything with the Vernal Equinox to get their alignments just right. But these alignments were more than just impressive architectural achievements. They were spiritual connections between the earth and the cosmos, creating a divine bond through their precise placements. Isn't our history filled with such mysteries and marvels amazing? It makes us wonder about the brilliance of our ancestors and the secrets they might have known. So, what do you think about this ancient genius? #indianculture #gauripooja #gujarat #history #geography

AS I SAY, The whole world once follow Hinduism? Based on archaeological findings, including cave paintings, burial sites, and ancient artefacts it appears the majority of homo sapiens held with belief systems which involved:- 1. Animism: the belief that natural objects, places, and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. Animists perceive all things—animals, plants, rocks, rivers, weather systems, even words and concepts—as animated and alive. Early humans would have seen the world as populated by a multitude of spirits and supernatural beings. 2. Shamanism: This involves the practice of reaching altered states of consciousness in order to encounter and interact with the spirit world. Shamans, who were the religious specialists, acted as intermediaries between the human and spirit worlds. The shamans performed rituals, provided healing, and guided both the living and the dead. “Hinduism” in its catholic embrace certainly includes all of these beliefs to some degree or other and therefore can be regarded as a continuation of the original belief system common to all humanity. IN CASE OF AMERICAN CONTINENT, Missionaries and explorers recognized Amerindian shamans as accomplished physicians and powerful authorities, who managed environmental resources and advised chiefs on local issues and on matters of war. However, or perhaps precisely for those reasons, over the following five hundred years, missionaries sought to disenfranchise shamans from their positions of authority, co-opt their roles in society, as well as the ‘shrines’ and the ‘sacred places’ of their zemes. #Indonordicassociation(dot)org Indo Nordic Strategic Association, India VERY DETAIL RESEARCH DONE https://lnkd.in/d4i4-GsH
