5 BIG THINGS I learned this week: (1) Headshots. Everybody has an opinion 😎 (2) There's a right way and a wrong way to handle the departure of a valued team member. I am more convinced than ever that the best way is to respect the decision, allow for time to transition, and show appreciation for the time you worked together. (3) Sometimes you've got to test your skills. This week I stepped in to complete several in-depth interviews about a highly technical (technology) project. Guess what? I survived. My client thought they went really well. Now I'm on the hook for about 10 more next week 🙄 (4) And sometimes you've got to let your experts be experts. So grateful for our DSI and IT teams who have really stepped up on this same highly technical (technology) project. They have amazed me with their ability to experiment and engage with the technology, demonstrating a clear understanding of how it works as well as documenting failures and opportunities throughout. (5) Lastly, if you haven't seen the Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon re-creation of Dolly and Kenny singing "Islands in the Stream" you are truly missing out 👇 Onward to another great week. Better understanding. Better decisions. That's KS&R.

Today I was joined by the wonderful Leanne Scaletta and David O'Hearns to talk about employer brand and its role in recruiting talent. For those who couldn't join us, here are a couple of key takeaways: 🌟 Be authentic in what you present. There's no point having an employer brand that depicts you in a way that doesn't reflect who you are as this will just lead to perception misalignment and candidates that aren't the right fit further down the line. ☀️ Make decisions based on your values. Stay true to who you are and echo it at every touch point. As you grow, be sure to do it on purpose and put processes in place to support you. 🌟 Consider all of your stakeholders. Employer branding is about so much more than active candidates. For example, there's increased scrutiny of supply chains for large tenders and those organisations needing to upkeep certain standards (eg BCorp), as well as media focus which demonstrates how quickly you can build a negative perception when your employer brand comes in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. As David O'Hearns so well points out, you also never know where your next referral or recruit is going to come from - perhaps a client likes your approach and is looking for their opportunity to jump ship... ☀️ Create content that helps people understand what it's like behind the curtains. It doesn't have to paint you as perfect - just provide honest answers to the questions that candidates, employees etc have to support them in determining if you're a good fit for them or not. It saves you time and money in the long run. ☀️ Invest in your employer brand. Honestly, the cost for getting it wrong is eye-watering (Leanne Scaletta 👀), so we ask: why wouldn't you? Thanks again to Leanne and Dave. Excellent guest speakers. We Are Adam Dawn MP&Co #EmployerBrand

Read Rob Schneider's mind! Seriously of the kindest humans I've met! Grew up watching all his movies so this was such a treat.
