I would like to thank Nick O'Connor and Derek Auchterlonie of Ibstock Plc at Birtley. They kindly took myself & a colleague on a tour of the Birtley Factory last week. The tour was informative in many ways and the process fascinating. It is worth pointing out that Ibstock's clay quarry is visible from the factory and that, among other practices, the hot air from the kiln is reused within the factory for heating & drying processes. Their commitment to being as #enviromentallyfriendly as possible is all encompassing within the process. Staff are mostly local, the brick moulds for special shaped bricks are made by a company on the same industrial estate and the list goes on. If you want to be #green -ish and support British made products, then I suggest you look to bricks from the North East factories at Birtley & Throckley for your next build.
I have done some research & it appears that many imported bricks, often poor quality, are the result of slave or extremely low paid labour, dangerous working conditions and the use of practices more suited to 1724, not 2024. A lot of imported bricks are passed off or implied as being British, not always the case. #BuyBritish #local #NorthEast #bricks #healthandsafety
We build new houses & bungalows, extensions, full refurbs of empty properties and garden offices/studios for #doggrooming, #musicrehearsal #homeoffice #pilates that can be weathertight in days, not months.

2moAwesome move here. This will be a game changer in this locality, no proper retail supermarket within the immediate Greatwall radius.
