Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammatory disorder primarily impacting the small intestine with potential involvement of the large intestine, is influenced by immune factors and often has a genetic predisposition. Assessment findings typically encompass abdominal cramps, chronic diarrhea, fever, nausea, weight loss, and pain localized in the right lower quadrant. Nursing diagnoses commonly associated with Crohn's disease include anxiety, diarrhea, imbalanced nutrition, and acute pain. Diagnostic modalities such as X-rays, colonoscopy, and fecal tests are employed for accurate diagnosis. Treatment modalities encompass a spectrum ranging from pharmacological management to dietary adjustments and, in severe cases, surgical interventions such as colectomy with ileostomy. Nursing interventions entail vigilant monitoring of gastrointestinal status, administration of prescribed medications, provision of nutritional support, and diligent postoperative care for patients undergoing surgery. Educational endeavors aimed at patients should focus on imparting comprehensive understanding of the disorder, proper medication adherence, self-care strategies for managing ileostomy, stress management techniques, and vigilant recognition of symptomatology for timely intervention. Effective management of Crohn's disease necessitates a multifaceted approach involving collaboration between healthcare professionals and patients to optimize outcomes and enhance quality of life. *let's connect for more knowledge sharing* #healthcare #health #linkedin #linkedinlearning #study #knowledge #research #medicine #medical #medicina #wecan #europe #asiapacific #asia #antarctica #india #southafrica #doctor #nurses #mediation #drugdevelopment #drugsafety #ingo #ngo

After more than four years in the making, with the help of a great interdisciplinary team and support from a pilot grant from UR Medicine, our paper is finally out. Here is the gist: The prevalence of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes is high in people with serious mental illness on second-generation antipsychotics, and oral glucose tolerance testing has the potential to identify these patients much earlier. Insulin resistance, higher triglyceride levels, pulse rates, and waist/hip ratios are associated with an increased risk of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. Finally, unhealthy diet habits translate into worse metabolic profiles, and daily step counts are closely correlated with CRP levels, a well-known cardiac risk marker. All of the above findings emphasize the need and potential power of lifestyle measures to improve those markers. With the same interdisciplinary team, we are working hard to improve the metabolic health of folks with serious mental illness in our integrated diabetes clinic at the UR MIPS-PC site (Medicine-In-Psychiatry-Service Primary Care).

https://lnkd.in/g4Rr5_YP Article title: Correlation of Cardiac Sympathetic Nervous System Dysfunction with Diastolic Left Ventricular Dysfunction in Patients with Controlled Hypertension Author(s): Elsayed Abo-salem*; Mouhamad Abdallah; Mohamed Effat; Said Alsidawi; Myron Gerson Journal: Archives of Clinical Hypertension Journal ISSN: 2640-771X Introduction: Sympathetic nervous system activity is increased in patients with systemic hypertension. Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors can effectively control hypertension without a reflex sympathetic stimulation. However, limited data are available about the role of sympathetic dysfunction in the pathophysiology of diastolic dysfunction among patients with controlled hypertension receiving angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors. #ArterialBloodPressure #ArterialHypertension #BloodPressureMonitoring #BloodPressureVariability #CardiovascularRisks #CentralBloodPressure #HighBloodPressure #HypertensionDuringPregnancy #HypertensionInChildren #HypertensionInNewborn #HypertensionManagement #HypertensionNeonate #HypertensionNursing #HypertensionNutrition #HypertensionRiskFactors #HypertensionTreatment #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #HypertensiveCrisis #HypertensiveEmergency #IdiopathicIntracranialHypertension #InducedHypertension #IntracranialHypertension #LowBloodPressure #PersistentPulmonaryHypertension #PortalHypertension #ProtopulmonaryHypertension #PulmonaryHypertension #RenalDisorders #TraumaticIntracranialHypertension

Thanks for sharing! Crohn’s diagnosis should be considered during some specific clinical presentations, including acute abdominal pain. To be more discrete, right lower quadrant abdominal pain. Missed diagnosis and unnecessary surgical procedures might cause post-operative complications, including enteric fistulaes. Also, I would recommend replacing the video, with a more relevant one with the Crohn Disease, including different strictruoplasty procedures #Crohn_Disease #stricturoplasty #Surveillence_guidelines Deepak Pandey

THE SILENT KILLER Hypertension, often called the silent killer, is a serious condition that frequently presents no symptoms. Recently, I had a conversation with a friend in his mid-thirties about his health. When I asked him about his last blood pressure check, he mentioned it was over six months ago. I advised him to visit a nearby pharmacy for a quick check-up. To his surprise, his blood pressure was 160/100 mmHg. He had no idea his blood pressure was high, especially since neither he nor his family had been diagnosed with hypertension. During my research on hypertension, I discovered some surprising differences in the guidelines. According to the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA), stage 1 hypertension is defined as a systolic blood pressure (SBP) of 130-139 mmHg or a diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of 80-89 mmHg. In contrast, the European Society of Hypertension considers stage 1 hypertension to start at 140/90 mmHg. What last did you check your blood pressure?
