Meet the honorees of our signature fundraising event, Elevate! We are thrilled to recognize Laurie and Neal Price with the Irving B. Harris Award for their significant contributions to our community’s well-being. As a 12-year JCFS board member, Laurie oversaw several notable agency construction projects, including the Abe & Ida Cooper Center in West Rogers Park and the Seigle Campus in Skokie. Neal served on several local Jewish boards during his 30-plus years as an active Jewish community leader. As a prominent leader, philanthropist and changemaker, we are pleased to honor Cheryl Leon with the What's Possible Award. She served as the coordinator of Ezra Helpline, the basis for JCFS’ intake services. She also helped create Partnership for Safer Communities, a JCFS initiative to raise awareness about abuse prevention through education and training. Cheryl and her husband Bruce recently launched The Leon Legacy Fund for all Jews to explore their rich heritage. Read more about our well-deserving honorees here: JCFS.org/Elevate

Founder, C-Suite leader known for developing inclusive cultures focused on high performance for companies and philanthropies seeking to drive greater impact in the world
Must read report and gratitude to Giving Gap for setting the record straight with data and insights to draw attention to the critical role and high performance of nonprofits founded by Black leaders. We need more large scale philanthropy, like Fidelity Charitable Catalyst Fund, addressing the funding disparities for communities of color and their nonprofits. "Despite their unwavering commitment to addressing our country's greatest social challenges, Black leaders and their organizations are forced to navigate a funding ecosystem that unfairly advantages their white counterparts and restricts their own capacity for growth." President, OnTarget Consulting • Founder, Salt Water • Author, "Leading Through Loss: How to Navigate Grief at Work"
"Your nonprofit will never thrive without a high functioning board." ~ Joan Garry It takes time to build and maintain an exemplary nonprofit board of directors but it's well worth the effort. Carefully cultivated board members can serve as thought partners, collaborators and advocates. They can strengthen your fundraising efforts, help manage risk, inspire confidence in your organization and improve your performance as executive director. If you want to learn how recruit and retain high caliber board members, join Shari Roeseler and me on April 17th and 24th for "Building a Board That Works." We'll offer you some strategies and tactics on how to deal with your difficult or disengaged board members, too. https://lnkd.in/gx9a-8NW
