🌴 Happy International Forest Day! 🌳 At the Sustainable Coconut Partnership, we're proud to celebrate the importance of forests worldwide. Our commitment to sustainability is not only social and economical, it is also about preserving our precious ecosystems. That's why we launched our Deforestation and tree age Monitoring Initiative, to monitor and support the industry towards sustainability at a time where increased regulations are targeting deforestation causing commodities. 💻 The data of our analysis, the biggest ever conducted spanning 8 of the main production countries and over 5 million hectares over the past 20 years suggests that only minimal deforestation can be attributed to coconut. 📉 The analysis also shows that more than 90% of coconut trees are very old and the industry is in a great need of rejuvenation, we have confidence that the rejuvenation of this industry can and will be done sustainably with the support of the Sustainable Coconut Partnership members 🌎Remote sensing plays a key role in helping protect our forests and supporting sustainable industries and we will continue to support the industry's transformation. April is Earth Month: an annual reminder of the huge importance of environmental conservation, sustainability and taking action to protect our planet. At International Beverage, the most important word has always been ‘action’. That’s why we can look back and feel proud of our sustainability programme of the past few decades. It’s nearly twenty years since our Wick-based Pulteney Distillery said yes to involvement in a local District Heating Scheme. It was a step into the unknown, but we knew it was the right thing to do for our business and for the local community and environment in Wick. Fast forward to today, and we are seeing the results of our investment in one of Scotch whisky’s most sophisticated and sustainable production systems at Balmenach Distillery. Here we have worked with companies at the cutting edge of environmental technology to build a site that creates renewable energy, reduces Co2 emissions and increases water efficiency. In between, we have taken every opportunity to take positive sustainable action: from our early use of TVR systems on our stills; to our industry-leading water stewardship programme at Pulteney; and our green co-product processing schemes, such as the Knockdhu Wetlands. In 2024, our commitment to sustainable distilling is stronger than ever, whether that’s refining the initiatives we have in place or experimenting with new technologies. Earth Month is a good opportunity to celebrate progress - but it's also a reminder that for our business, and the wider industry, there's always more work to do. 🌱Nature has an incredible way of maintaining balance, and when we work in harmony with it, we can create sustainable ecosystems that benefit both the environment and humanity. Composting is a fantastic example of how we can replicate nature's cycles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote soil health. By turning organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, we not only reduce the waste that would otherwise contribute to landfills but also enrich the soil, leading to healthier crops and more sustainable food production. When we respect and apply these natural laws, we contribute to a more resilient and balanced ecosystem.

Today, as we observe World Water Day, we take the time to highlight Goumbook’s long history of championing water conservation and sustainability. This day serves as a reminder of the vital importance of water resources, and the urgent need to safeguard it for future generations. Water has played an important role across many of our initiatives: Our Regenerative Agriculture Venture Programme aims to transform the MENAT region's agricultural landscape by promoting regenerative farming practices. This initiative addresses water scarcity and climate change challenges, ensuring water security and fostering a climate-resilient agriculture hub in the region. The Trees Matter and Give a Ghaf - Tree Planting Program initiatives are pivotal projects that aim to address environmental sustainability by planting native tree species, which play a significant role in water conservation through their natural ability to absorb and retain water. MENA Oceans aims to conserve and restore the ocean's natural capital, promote sustainable blue economies, and raise awareness on ocean issues, including the importance of water ecosystems and marine resources. The Eat It or Save It - Beyond Food Waste initiative focuses on reducing food waste by applying circular economy principles, which in turn conserves water by minimizing the wastage of water resources used in food production. Drop it #ReThink Plastic Campaign is a community-based initiative advocating for reduced consumption of single-use plastic water bottles, thereby protecting water sources from pollution and depletion. Together with our sponsors and partners, we continue to be committed to raising awareness, galvanizing community action, and fostering sustainable practices. Join the conversation and be a part of the solution. #WorldWaterDay #WaterConservation #Sustainability #Goumbook #WaterStewardship

This year's World Environment Day theme highlights the importance of sustainable land use and management for a thriving future. It calls attention to the critical role that land plays in sustaining life on our planet, providing food, water, and shelter, and supporting biodiversity and ecosystem services. LimaAfrica is at the forefront of promoting sustainable land use practices and transforming food systems in Africa. Our innovative approaches align perfectly with this year's theme: LimaAfrica's use of black soldier fly larvae to convert organic waste into high-quality protein for animal feed is a prime example of circular economy principles in action. By diverting organic waste from landfills and transforming it into a valuable resource, LimaAfrica is not only reducing environmental degradation but also promoting sustainable land use and regenerative agriculture. We are the future! Happy World Environment Day! #SustainableFood #EcoFriendly #OurLand #FoodSystems #Sustainability #EnvironmentalImpact #CommunityDevelopment #CircularEconomy #FarmToTable #GreenTech #WorldEnvironmentDay

Celebrate #GenerationRestoration: 4C Services Brews a Sustainable Future for World Environment Day! ☕🌎 On World Environment Day, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is urging everyone to become #GenerationRestoration. This year's theme tackles land restoration, desertification, and building resilience against drought. At 4C Services, our mission to promote sustainable coffee supply chains directly connects to these goals! Here's how 4C Services aligns with #GenerationRestoration through coffee: 🌱Protecting Ecosystems: The 4C Code of Conduct discourages deforestation and promotes biodiversity by requiring good agricultural practices. This protects soil health, prevents erosion, and fosters natural habitats for a variety of plant and animal life. 👩🏽🌾Empowering Farmers: 4C certification empowers coffee farmers, particularly smallholders, by ensuring fair prices and better working conditions. This allows them to invest in sustainable practices like soil conservation techniques and water management, ultimately contributing to land restoration efforts. 💪Building Resilience: 4C's focus on sustainable practices helps farmers adapt to climate change and build resilience against droughts. This might include techniques like planting shade trees, diversifying crops, and using water-efficient irrigation methods, all contributing to healthier land. By promoting sustainable coffee, 4C Services plays a vital role in land restoration and environmental well-being. Here's how you can join the movement: ➡️Look for the 4C label when buying coffee. Choose brands committed to sustainable practices! ➡️Reduce your coffee footprint by buying in bulk or using reusable filters. ➡️Spread awareness! Share the #GenerationRestoration message and educate others about the connection between coffee and land health. Together, through conscious choices and sustainable practices, we can brew a better future for our planet. #WorldEnvironmentDay #OurLandOurFuture #4CServices Let's celebrate a cup that contributes to a thriving Earth!
