A fascinating look at future thinking, taking in some previous work, a huge number of relevant trends to explore, plus integrating the existing data landscape for things like library visits (limited but that’s all there is). Great work by all involved. It’s a reminder that we do need to do more to understand those library services with increased visits (though still declining loans). Is it Events, WiFi, other services, colocation, or dodgy data?! Only suggestion is that the library sector need to fund making work more accessible, and more widely available! Publish as web content, allow people to bookmark it rather than save the file somewhere where they’ll lose it. Make every section optimised for search engines, make it easy to find and easy to consume on any device. In the library sector there are a mass of PDF reports metaphorically sitting on a dusty pile in a locked away room, and it doesn’t do the work justice.
Today sees the launch of #CILIP’s #FutureLibraries, a two-part initiative that will challenge and engage #Librarians and #Library leaders to reimagine libraries in the context of a rapidly changing world. This project was funded by Arts Council England #ACEsupported Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e9vyR7zS

Everyone knows there is something wrong, either because they helped create it or because they suffer from it. OST Is one of the few initiatives that offers real solutions. I also think OST is the most viable because it does not create more conflict or hardship of any kind. Please don't take my word for this, check it out for yourself!
The ONE SMALL TOWN initiative was born in 2005. It has gone through a steady painful evolution and survived many challenges. It grew stronger, and more complete with every challenge and every year. It keeps getting stronger every day. Our team is getting bigger, wiser, more effective and more cohesive every day. OST is now ready to truly change the world. Join us. Become a seed of consciousness in your community. It only takes one individual with a vision to start the chain reaction. When we build it, the will come. We are building it. More and more are coming. In unity, Michael Tellinger. onesmalltown.org
