National Intern Day Spotlight! Jill Loebs is a rising senior at UMass Lowell majoring in business administration with a concentration in Marketing. As a member of the Division 1 Field Hockey team, she’s a proud River Hawk! University of Massachusetts Lowell Jill joined the Jeanne D’Arc team in past May as our marketing intern. For the last few months, she’s brought the classroom to the real-world learning marketing strategy, planning and posting social media in Hubspot, publishing blogs in Wordpress, and designing graphics with Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud. But she didn’t stop there! She also assisted with our community engagement initiatives and financial wellness workshops! During this internship Jill learned that she loves to be face-to-face with people, having hands-on experiences rather than be behind a computer screen. She’s super excited to take the skills she’s developed from her time at Jeanne D’Arc and apply them toward her career after college.

Get to know our team! Today we are featuring Lucas Greenberg our summer intern from Case Western Reserve University! What do you do at UH Ventures in one sentence? - I've been interning with Matthew Zenker and the new UH Haslam Sports Innovation Center with their incoming deal flow. I research, analyze, and compile a variety of data and information to assess sports-medicine and health companies/markets to help accelerate and invest in them. I'm also working on the upcoming SportsLand event with Patricia Colella, MBA, by helping out in all areas of event management. What are your favorite things to do outside of school? - I love to exercise and try new workouts, but more importantly, I love to eat. During COVID, I began cooking and baking as a way to unwind; I try to make a meal four times a week. My favorite dish to make is my grandfather’s shrimp and pea risotto. Favorite binge-worthy TV show? - The Office. I have seen The Office over five times and I can quote certain scenes by heart! What is your favorite restaurant in Cleveland? - Batuqui; a fun Brazilian summer dinner spot. What do you love about Cleveland? - I was born and raised all around Cleveland, and throughout my time, there has been one constant: the people. Everyone from Cleveland has a unique and inspiring story, and I love meeting people from around the world. #Internship #HealthTech #Innovation #EventManagement #Innovation #CareerDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #Cleveland

It was a pleasure to speak with stand-out students at the Indiana University - Kelley School of Business to discuss the industry structure of sports, standard org charts at sports team, and tips to excel in the sports industry. 3 takeaways that students shared that they learned 👇 1️⃣ The "Business Side" of a sports organization is often distinct org structure from the "Player Side" 2️⃣ As an industry, sports & entertainment includes teams, agencies, sponsors, technology providers, and many other niche industry segments 3️⃣ "Stay close to the revenue" is a productive way to grow in your career __ 🙏 Thank you to Doug Eibling for hosting our TeamWork Online team at class, including Buffy Filippell, Michelle Price, and Kaeleigh Patriski. I was impressed at the way that students shared "Headline" introductions that were concise, specific, and showcased the deep experiences and leadership opportunities that so many students have already discovered. ⭐️ If you're a student looking to break-in to the sports industry, now is an ideal time to be looking at internships ... Graduate Student at Texas Tech University l B.S. in Economics from Texas A&M l Social Media Intern with Iowa Wild
As I reach the halfway point of my summer Game Day Operations and Marketing Internship, I am excited to reflect on the incredible experiences and lessons learned so far! Here are my key takeaways: 1. The Power of Marketing: My role is running and updating all of the teams social channels, and one of my most significant takeaways has been understanding the critical role of marketing in sports. My campaigns and content have reached over 40,000 accounts and increased following by over 20%. 2. Capturing the Moments: Getting a camera has been a game-changer. Capturing and sharing high-quality content has been one of the most fun parts of my job! 📸 3. Sports is Fast: Working in sports (especially for two teams) is exhilarating and dynamic. The fast-paced environment has taught me to be adaptable and quick on my feet. 4. The Impact of Fans: We have the most amazing fans, and they are truly the heart and soul of our operations. Engaging with fans of all ages and seeing their passion has reinforced the reasons I want to go into the industry. 5. Love for the Sports Industry: This internship has deepened my love for the sports industry. The blend of strategy, creativity, and community makes it an incredibly rewarding field to be a part of! ❤️🔥 I am so grateful for the support from everyone and I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the summer season!

Marketing strategist & behavioral insights expert | Owner of The Pragmatique. Dedicated to helping my clients create amazing customer and employee experiences with a positive human impact!
Fond memories triggered by all these National Intern Day posts! Looking back on my intern days (over 20 years ago, eek), I am so grateful for the experiences I had with two different companies/organizations, both still going strong today. 👏 Shout out to the folks at the Wisconsin Innovation Service Center at UWW for giving students amazing, real-world experiences in research, product development and go-to-market strategy! 👏 And another shout out to Palmer Hamilton (formerly Palmer Synder Furniture) for enabling me all those years ago to digitize their contract records, and create a database with renewal alerts - all before I even knew what a CRM system was! To see how much the company has changed in 20 years is a great example of adaptation and strategy at work! Each of those experiences helped me build a foundation for skills I still use today and gave me exposure to the types of work I love. And when I had interns on my team, those experiences shaped my style of leadership - to give them real, challenging projects (and feedback), to provide exposure to other professionals and leaders, and to give as much business context for what they were doing as possible. And most importantly - to give them room to share ideas and to actually listen to them! Get after it interns, you'll do great things!

Sadly, I ended my summer internship with NJ State Senator Joseph Cryan yesterday. I wanted to reflect on this amazing experience. It's been a time of immense growth and learning, and I'm endlessly grateful for the opportunity. Firstly, a thank you to everyone who took the time to mentor me. Petra Gaskins, Andreia Veloso, Will DiGrande, and Garrison Keck, I cannot thank you enough for your guidance. From diving into challenging projects to collaborating with talented professionals, every day this summer has made me into a better person. Some key takeaways from this internship: 1. Constituent Outreach: As an intern, part of my daily tasks was to oversee a section of the office inbox. When constituents wrote to the office about a bill, I researched the topic and drafted a response with the bill's current status and the Senator's position on the issue. 2. Legislative Research: One of my favorite aspects of this internship was being able to help with research on a variety of topics. Whether that was finding current scientific data about a particular issue or researching legislation in other states, I loved contributing to the Senator's legislative agenda. 3. Legislative Organization: When working in a legislative office, there is always lots of incoming information about bills. It was a great responsibility being able to organize all of the Senator's sponsored bills for this session of Congress. I updated this database after every caucus to ensure its accuracy. I'm excited to take these insights into my future endeavors and continue growing as a professional. Thank you again to Senator Cryan for making this summer unforgettable.
