I found this article about “who we are without work” at times insightful, contemplative and, yes, a bit anachronistic.
Are we really so closely linked to our careers that we have no idea who we are without them?
I especially gravitated toward the final part of the article because I never ask people “What do you do?” I find that question narrow and biased.
Instead my go-to favs when I meet someone are:
“How did you spend your day?”
“How do you like to spend your time?”
“What are you up to?”
Do you have others?
