In the past 2 years we have seen rapid development of LLMs, chatGPT et al. While it has created a frenzy of AI companies, leading to T$ companies and rise of magnifican 7. Namely AMZN, APPL, META, GOOG, NVIDA, TSLA, MSFT. Many other enterprises are looking to make sense of this hype and use Gen AI for something tangible other than a bot. In quest to solve for complex business problems like inventory management, supply chain, network optimization etc we embarked on a journey to build a Gen AI bot framework, that solves critical business use cases for enterprises. We bring AGACP or Autonomous Gen AI Communication Protocol, a newly formulated framework to solve complex business problems using Gen AI Bots. https://lnkd.in/gK-DWzDA "In a recent report, the McKinsey Global Institute, the research arm of the consulting firm, included a timeline for the widespread adoption of generative A.I. applications. It assumed steady improvement in currently known technology, but not future breakthroughs. Its forecast for mainstream adoption was neither short nor precise, a range of eight to 27 years." Remember how we were supposed to have an autonomous vehicle by now? It turns out that the last 5% of refining a new, disruptive technology into something that can achieve widespread adoption takes time. With GenAI we're still probably not at the last 5% yet. I'm not an GenAI skeptic. I think it is going to completely change the way we do video production. But we have to iron out some key issues (including IP), before brands and media companies can safely use this without fear of lawsuit. Also...it just needs to be good. (AI didn't write this post.)

It is hard to gauge the rate of development of AI. All new technology has a hype cycle, and when you are in it, it is hard to know what part of the cycle you are in. However, Chris Barlow has just brought this development to my attention. It is the next stage in the development of AI agents. AI agents are AI systems that are able to take lots of different steps, acting the kind of way that a human does when solving problems. It is a system called Devin that, at the moment, writes or fixes various types of apps, mimicking what a software engineer does. For non-techie types, have a look at the video and remember that the general principles of getting this agent to work can be applied to a much wider range of tasks than just software engineering. From addressing biases and ensuring accountability to safeguarding privacy and mitigating societal impacts, ethical considerations must be integrated into every stage of the AI lifecycle. By embracing ethical principles and values in AI development and deployment, we can harness the transformative potential of AI while minimizing its risks and ensuring that AI serves the greater good of humanity. Only through thoughtful deliberation and responsible stewardship can we navigate the ethical landscape of AI and build a future where AI enhances, rather than undermines, human flourishing and societal well-being.

AI Innovation & Deployment (from #AIUK2024)   This session was about the balancing of AI benefits against the inherent and potential risks and harms.   Why It Matters:  - AI depends on robust infrastructure - organisational, society, etc. - it has to exist within something.  - Benefits are crucial; so is recognizing risks.  - For AI to deliver it needs to serve people – so safety must be a priority.  - Lack of trust is a barrier to adoption and acceptance.   AI Safety & Trust:  - Safety is multi-dimensional: physical, psychological.  - Trust and perception are key to psychological safety.  - With AI we are starting to see harms and/or the potential for harms that extend beyond physical to include social, political, and ethical.  - Ruth Boumphrey spoke to the Lloyds Register Foundation Foresight Report which finds Africa, LATAM and Southern Asia as the regions most distrustful of AI. (See image in the comments and link to the report: https://lnkd.in/eTYsVJFt)   Redefining AI Safety:  - This was a really interesting part of the discussion in which Ibrahim Habli built a redefinition of AI safety.  - It is important to consider issues of causation which creates responsibility, foreseeability and liability. This results in the consideration of risk with assessment of the likelihood of harm and severity that leads to organisations and society asking 'what is acceptable and to whom?'.  - The conclusion…   AI SAFETY IS THE FREEDOM FROM UNACCEPTABLE RISK OF HARM CAUSED BY THE USE OF AI.   What do people think?   The Challenge of Deployment:  - Safe deployment is time-consuming but necessary to build trust.  - But trust is necessary for adoption.  - Building and designing for AI safety is not then a cost, but an enabler.   My key takeaway:   At #AIUK2024 I am seeing and speaking to people pushing at the boundaries of AI development. The pace of progress is never more obvious, but I am also becoming acutely aware of the terminal velocity for human and organisational change that will be the natural resistance. Designing AI safety and trust into your AI development and strategies for deployment will only enable you.
