As a legendary structured engineer, Henry Degenkolb, founder of Degenkolb Engineering, pointed out, "Earthquakes do not kill; bad buildings do." Therefore, when appropriate technology is implemented on buildings/structures, damage and loss of lives from earthquakes can be minimized, as we saw in Japan. Therefore, it is essential to take action now rather than waiting for an earthquake to cause damage to our business, even if our infrastructure does not meet the current building codes. Thankfully, modern technology allows us to take proactive measures to address our challenges, ensure business continuity, protect our operations, and save lives. One such proactive technology is the OasisPlus platform, which is a game-changer in the world of earthquake safety technology. OasisPlus provides occupants and building management with real-time information on the health of building structures before, during, and after an earthquake, helping to create more resilient communities. One of the most innovative features of the OasisPlus product is the integration of Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) algorithms, which provides unparalleled advantages to users in specific scenarios. A powerful moment that deserves a re-share: 5 years ago, former Iranian judoka Saeid Mollaei was forced by the Iranian regime to avoid a match with Israeli judoka Sagi Muki due to his Israeli nationality. Mollaei fled to Europe after he criticized the Iranian regime's discriminatory actions, and even dedicated his silver medal win at the Tokyo Olympics to Israel in 2021, thanking the country for its support. Muki and Mollaei subsequently struck up a close friendship, and for the first time, they faced each other last year at the Budapest Grand Slam. Mollaei won the fight, and the two men hugged, sending a powerful message that friendship knows no political bounds. 💙🥋🇮🇱

Sad. Really sad. Someone who introduced the world to the Grameen model or the Joint Liability methodology; the model that is most commonly adopted to provide loans to the poor women across the globe, is being called “bloodsucker of the poor”. But for the Grameen model, so many MFIs across the globe would not have been able to scale up their Microfinance offering to the poor. The entire Group Lending model owes its origin to the Grameen way of banking, started by Prof Yunus. The same Prof Yunus, who is now being accused as “sudkhor” (Shylock). It is the ease of the Grameen model that has allowed the Indian MFIs to grow into large Banks today. #bandhanbank; #ujjivanbank; #equitasbank: all Of them owe their success to the Group lending model (with variants from the original Grameen model). The largest Indian MFI: #creditaccessgrameen uses the name Grameen. All the criminal charges are trivial and politically motivated: with the sole intent to tarnish the image of Prof Yunus to such an extent, that he never poses any political threat to the ruling political parties. The one name from Bangladesh that is known all across the globe: & instead of celebrating that, he is now being dragged through the legal mud. Such a shame.
Yunus the ‘guilty’, let facts speak He is perhaps among the most respected, most honoured, and most recognised names in the world. Toto read the full article please visit : https://lnkd.in/gRgaJ33S

Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was only a few meters from the finish line but got confused with the signs and stopped, thinking he had finished the race. A Spanish man, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him and, realizing what was going on, started shouting to Mutai to keep running. Mutai did not understand Spanish and couldn't comprehend. Realizing the situation, Fernandez pushed Mutai to victory. A reporter asked Ivan, "Why did you do this?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that one day we can have some sort of community life where we push ourselves and help each other win." The reporter insisted, "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win; he was going to win. The race was his." The reporter asked again, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him and replied, "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of this medal? What would my Mother think of it?" He taught us one of the biggest life lessons: no victory is more valuable than being honest. While most of us take advantage of people's weaknesses, our true strength lies in helping them. #LifeLesson #Honesty #Sportsmanship #Integrity #TrueStrength #Community #Inspiration #Humanity #Respect #Kindness

If you watched Shogun, you might have wondered, sometimes they call him Anjin-sama, sometimes they call him Anjin-dono. What is -dono? As I explained in an earlier video, it was considered rude in pre-modern Japan to call people by their names, so -sama was an honorific used towards people above you, and -dono was used towards people who are of equal rank or below. Important nobles and samurai warlords all had a chunk of land as territory, and in that territory, they had their own mansion. Dono literally means mansion, so they called each other by the name of the place they lived. So if your territory was in Kamakura, they would call you Kamakura-dono. And then more people started using it, not just towards important people, and then at one point people were like, “I don't know where you live. Nor do I care. Steve-dono!” So Steve-dono was the equivalent of Steve-san back then. But maybe, Steve-dono sounded a little too heavy, so people preferred to call each other Steve-san. If you had visited Japan 200 years ago, a samurai might have called you Vancouver-dono, New York-dono, Mumbai-dono ☺️!
