I'm not a realtor, nor a part of the industry at all, but I spend more of my down-time on the Realtor .ca website than is likely healthy. That said, I enjoy this 'pastime' for a range of reasons, including: 1. Seeing which properties are available locally and what they're listed at. 2. Researching specific types of properties (like multi-family, hospitality, or say ones offering a laneway/garden suite). 3. Finding properties that are unique/historic/unusual, both locally and further afield. Especially ones that would enable/require an entirely different way-of-life/change-of-scenery/pace. For instance, this one caught my attention given how unique and unexpected it is. Billed as "Nova Scotia's most Northern estate winery", 'Eileanan Brèagha' (Scottish Gaelic for “beautiful islands”) is situated on 192 acres of breath-taking scenery on Cape Breton Island's large salt water Lake Bras D'or. The winemakers harvest grapes from the winery's 15,000 vines to produces 5 wines which are sold through the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation's stores. It seems like they've already got a pretty good set-up, while the size of the property, existing buildings, and scenic and tourist-friendly location would likely make it pretty well-suited for a future B&B, glamping, weddings maybe? Anyways, a spectactular property like this would seem to give you a lot of options. Not at all sure of what a winery in this part of Nova Scotia should be worth (or even how viable it is climactically, etc.), can't imagine that there are many comparables, but if you're a would-be winemaker who's looking for a change of scenery, and willing to put in the work, this looks like it might be a good fit (and quite an adventure!). #Property #RealEstate #Winery #DayDreaming #CapeBreton #NovaScotia #Change #Adventure #RandomMusings

PS - I did the classic Cabot Trail road trip with my parents many years ago and would love to return to this beautiful part of the world for a visit. Hopefully the winery will be doing tours and maybe even have guest accommodation at this point.

Jeff Harti - I'm curious. This house-shopping... is this like infinite #windowshopping? Or just using realtor.ca as a better google maps? Or is this a perpetual 'I want to change/flip my home'? I'm asking because I moved more than I wanted to when I was younger. Now I really have an aversion to even the ideal of moving...

It still costs less than a smallish house in Toronto and it is indeed beautiful. Oh the possibilities.

It’s so interesting to see how far the dollar can go, in various locations all across the country. This is a beauty! Nice find.
