Sr. Talent Acquisition Manager at Carroll Motor Fuels/High's of Baltimore seeking the talented work force for the journey of life.
#tuesdaytip As you may be aware, many area school systems return to session starting this week or early next. This is an exciting time for children and especially youngsters who are attending school for the first time, so please remain diligent and exceptionally alert while you are driving to and from work. With this reemerged school-related activity it means that young, inexperienced pedestrians and also bicyclists are added into the traffic mix where they all are more vulnerable to be struck by vehicles. You can do your part and help reduce these risks by: · First and foremost, NEVER utilize your phone while operating any vehicle! Reduce your speed while driving in close proximity to school and residential areas · Remain on a continuous lookout for clues that give warning of children in the area, (i.e. signs, safety patrols, bikes, adult crossing guards, school buses, etc.) · Obeying all school bus stop laws · Clearing ALL fogged windows on your vehicle before driving (not just the driver side of the front windshield) · Obeying all traffic signs and signals · When possible, make an effort to simply avoid school zones during arrival and dismissal hours Share this message with any teenage drivers within your home

🚸May 7, 2024: Young Driver & Kid Day🚸 Understanding how to share the road safely around large trucks and buses can happen at any age—it’s never too early to start learning! Today we recognize the younger drivers and pedestrian children! 🛣The universal notice: "look both ways"!! We can remember this from the first time we ever stepped foot on a sidewalk or parking lot. This advise will stick with young ones for life. We have to start somewhere! 🚧 🚨 It's so often that younger drivers get a bad rep! Although there are many new distractions facing our teen drivers today, we must practice patience and set good driving examples for the next generation! It is imperative that we educate our young drivers on awareness, reaction time, and defensive driving from the beginning!!🚦 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration U.S. Department of Transportation Drake Enterprises of Lincolnton NC #ourroads #ourroadsoursafety #ourroadsoursafetyweek #trafficsafety #highwaysafety #truckingsafety #truckingindustry #cdl #drivingsafely #defensivedriving #awareness #lookbothways #safety #safetyfirst #driversafety #passengersafety #driversed

WCC must consider immediate rates remission for these businesses. (Reading Cinema got remission after the earthquake.) 97% of our businesses in NZ have fewer that 20 employees. They aren't big faceless corporations. These businesses are woven into the fabric of our communities and their owners pay rates and mortgages. When they go home they participate in community life, coach football and fundraise for local schools. We are interdependent. When they get hit, we all do.
Hard working, brave people put their futures on the line and open stores in our city. We did not promote this to members because it did not meet their needs.

"I can't even put into words how the bus drivers must feel when they put that stop arm out and they see a car blow through it and the kid is crossing that street," McNamara said. Back to school is just around the corner and that means buses will be back on the road, and Pittsburgh Public Schools is warning drivers to pay attention and obey all signals. The school district did a pilot program from May until early July to start warning drivers and had 1,700 violations. Since July 5, all violations are now ticketed. So far, there have been about 200, and that's while there are not many buses running. In some cases, there have been near misses where a child was almost hit by a driver. It comes down to paying attention. The school district said it's on the public to help protect our students, so when you see buses stop, make sure you do as well. Several videos from school buses show cars blowing past stopped buses with the stop sign out. "No one believes that people just blatantly run through the stop arm. I don't know if it's distracted driving or not paying attention or not completely understanding the laws for the road," PPS Chief Operations Officer Mike McNamara said. https://lnkd.in/ejPN8C_t #buspatrol #stoparmcameras #studentsafety #schoolsafety #schoolbus #schoolbussafety #pennsylvania #technology #safety

In the first half of the 2019-2020 academic year, an average of 510 traffic tickets were written each month. That’s nearly three times more than the 181 citations that were issued on average every month between 2021 and 2023. #trafficsafety #trafficenforcement #schoolsafety #pedestriansafety #studentsafety

School Bus Transportation operations continue to face severe headwinds with respect to bus driver shortage. For school year 2023-2024, we started the school year 20 open driver positions. Couple the 20 open positions with the normal short term and long term abcenses and now you begin to face severe headwinds. Every school day presents a huge challenge to cover every bus route. Yesterday, Oct 3, 2023, we hit 50 open driver positions. Our outstanding dispatch team Laurie Denton, Valerie Parker, Austin Little, and the Shenendehowa CSD transportation department Assistant Director Belinda Govich NYCDT, CPTS were able to cover every route. How did the team do it? Prior to start of the school year, analysis of the routing blocks was done. A plan was put in place. The dispatch team knew which of the covered routes had enough time to cover the open routes. The knew which drivers can take on extra work and still make the schools on time. They knew which drivers can take on extra work but would be late 10-15 minutes, and so on. What our dispatch team is able to do is nothing short of a miracle! And of course, our dedicated school bus drivers and bus attendant who step up everyday to help out is key to mission success! Plan, analyze, refine the plan, implement the plan, repeat and stay focused! #schooltransportation #teamwork STN Wes Platt National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT)

As the school year kicks off, it's crucial for truck drivers to stay vigilant on the road, especially in areas where students are returning to classrooms. Here are some important Back-to-School Safety Tips for truck drivers to ensure a safe and smooth transition into the new academic year. - • Stay alert in school zones. Pay close attention to school zones, especially during the morning and afternoon hours when children are arriving at or leaving school. Obey speed limits and be prepared to stop quickly. • Watch for school buses. Be cautious around school buses. Always stop when a school bus is loading or unloading children, and wait until it is safe to proceed. • Use extra caution at crosswalks. Slow down and be prepared to stop at crosswalks and pedestrian crossings near schools. Children may dart out unexpectedly. • Mind school crossing guards. Follow the directions of school crossing guards, and yield the right-of-way to pedestrians when instructed. • Be aware of student drivers. Keep an eye out for student drivers who may be less experienced on the road, especially near high schools and driver's education centers. Exercise extra caution and patience when sharing the road with them. • Avoid distractions. Eliminate distractions while driving, such as using your phone, eating, or adjusting the radio. Stay focused on the road. • Check blind spots. Be extra cautious while turning or changing lanes near school zones. Always check your blind spots and use your mirrors. • Plan routes carefully. If your route takes you near schools, plan accordingly to avoid heavy school traffic during drop-off and pick-up times. - Stay tuned for other safety tips!
