By providing weekend meals to students who lose their subsidized meals offered during the school week, HopeAustin ensures the brightest future for our children and the broader community by ensuring children have every opportunity to learn and thrive without hunger. HopeAustin provides meals for 95 schools, 4600 students per week and over 110,000 meals per month in Central Texas! Research shows that children who suffer from food insecurity are more likely to have lower math scores and repeat a grade, among other challenges in areas like language, motor skills, and behavior. Children need nutrients so they can grow, develop, and focus on learning instead of thinking about the food they need. Where children face food insecurity in Austin and the surrounding area, HopeAustin steps in to end childhood hunger one child and one meal at a time, ensuring our kids at risk of hunger are equipped to reach their full potential.
