Check out the Annual Impact Report from Reach Out and Read.
Across all our Affiliates and sites, Reach Out and Read served 171,000 more children (for a total of 4.4 million) and provided 500,000 more books (for a total of 7.1 million) in FY23 than FY22. And as excited as we are about 8.8 million interactions in the clinic, we’re even more proud of the daily moments that matter, books being shared, and bonds being built among the families and children we have the honor of serving. 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that HopeAustin has been selected as a finalist for the Central Texas Community Foundation Impact Award! To vote or see all the remarkable stories of our Legacy Luncheon finalists, click here: https://lnkd.in/ghdCG6yj HopeAustin creates opportunities for the youngest members of our community through food security. By providing weekend meals to students who lose their subsidized meals offered during the school week, HopeAustin ensures the brightest future for our children and the broader community by ensuring children have every opportunity to learn and thrive without hunger. HopeAustin provides meals for 95 schools, 4600 students per week and over 110,000 meals per month in Central Texas! Research shows that children who suffer from food insecurity are more likely to have lower math scores and repeat a grade, among other challenges in areas like language, motor skills, and behavior. Children need nutrients so they can grow, develop, and focus on learning instead of thinking about the food they need. Where children face food insecurity in Austin and the surrounding area, HopeAustin steps in to end childhood hunger one child and one meal at a time, ensuring our kids at risk of hunger are equipped to reach their full potential. Child care is at a tipping point, and the question for all of us is in which direction will we lean? Come join the discussion in person or online next Wednesday, February 14. Details below.
Since 2020, Action for Children has been tracking progress on the state of child care in central Ohio and demonstrating how communities can come together on data-informed solutions to the challenges faced. Next week’s forum, hosted by the Columbus Metropolitan Club on February 14th at The Ellis, will focus on the findings from our latest survey report, "The Tipping Point," which brought to light critical issues facing child care providers in central Ohio. In a panel moderated by NBC4 co-anchor, Kerry Charles, Dr. Eric Karolak, and Kara Wente, Director of the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, Aslyne Rodriguez, Director of Government Affairs at the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), and Carol Haynes, Executive Director of Kiddie Academy, will provide insight on how our region can pave the way towards a more equitable and sustainable future for child care – an initiative beneficial for children, parents, and employers alike. Register to join in person or catch the live stream on CMC's YouTube channel: https://bit.ly/3HLwoBV

This was one of my favorite NCF Lunch & Learn sessions to date. Estate planning does not have to be intimidating. In fact, it can be very fulfilling to know your wishes will be carried out as you planned. Do yourself a favor and listen to this hour long session to identify some practical steps in get your plans in order. (You can even listen at 2x speed if you’d like 😉).
Earlier this week, we hosted a Lunch & Learn featuring author and professional advisor Mark Weber, who dedicated his career to helping people maximize their estate plans. During the informative session, Weber provided insights into how to answer the big questions of gift planning: how much is enough, how much to leave our children, and how will we be remembered?
