Here is a #linkedin success story! (I acted as a trump/catalyst and the benefactor being the one who is featured in the post I am sharing here)! (Not sure how she got connected to me – must be after seeing me write something about Purdue University). Akshitha Kartigueyan wrote to me (just a week or two after we were connected here) around 5 pm on November 28, 2023 enquiring of internship opportunities at our org. As her luck would have it, former director of our team/business unit Rob Denz (now he is the Vice President of the Open Innovation Center at Riverside Research) had just hit the road (from our Ohio Office toward Purdue University) to deliver a lecture at @The Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) at Purdue University. Link for the talk (with video) is at CERIAS : Mind the Gap: Vulnerabilities and Opportunities for Cyber R&D at the Edge - Purdue University https://lnkd.in/gxYRkqrJ I suggested to Akshita that she must attend Dr Denz’s lecture the next day and meet with him after the talk. She did so – even asked a lot of intelligent questions (so I heard) and expressed her desire to work as an intern at our org Riverside Research. As her interests aligned more with #AI/#ml, Dr Denz tied her up with our AI/ML director Bill Casebeer and the rest is history (Akshita must have impressed Bill and co. and was offered an internship to join us in summer 2024). The whole process must have taken just a few weeks! Even though, Akshita and I are colleagues now, we have never met (she is at our Boston office and I am in Ohio). Hopefully, she would join us as a permanent employee some day (after graduating) (like dozens of our interns had sailed that boat). A few points of advice to our followers: do not be shy to reach out to Professionals asking for opportunities. Be a go-getter (here is a young lady who is a good example/role model). #ai #ml #internship #stem #artificialintelligence #machinelearning
Meet Akshitha Kartigueyan—a rising junior, majoring in #ComputerScience and minoring in #Economics at Purdue University. She is one of the #MachineLearning interns at our Lexington, MA, office. By the end of high school, Akshitha knew that she really liked math, public speaking, and debating. She wanted to pursue a field that combined those skillsets, which ultimately led her to computer science. In her free time, Akshitha loves playing badminton and trying new foods and restaurants. So glad to have you interning with us, Akshitha! #WeAreRiversideResearch #TeamRiversideResearch #RiversideResearchInterns #GettingToKnowOurSummerInterns #InternSpotlight

Should grades still be the primary measure of academic success, or is it time for a change? JECRC University believes it's time to rethink how we view education and grades. The idea that students' futures depend on grades is old-fashioned and can harm true learning and growth. • Grades can limit creativity and critical thinking. • Focusing too much on high marks makes students avoid risks and stick to familiar subjects. • They try to please the system instead of exploring and learning. Grades don't always show a student's true abilities or potential. Many successful people like Steve Jobs or Richard Branson, didn't excel in traditional grading systems but still succeeded in their fields. We propose a more balanced approach to education! •This includes valuing practical experience, teamwork, innovation, and mental health. •Project-based learning, internships, peer reviews, and self-assessment can better prepare students for the real world. We know this idea might cause debate, and we welcome it. Education is changing, and it’s important to discuss these changes. What are your thoughts on this? #JECRCUniversity #RethinkEducation #BeyondGrades

A new article from Inside Higher Ed discusses the impact of success coaches on college student reenrollment rates. According to recent research, students who are provided with success coaches during their first year of college are more likely to reenroll for their second year compared to those who do not receive this support. This personalized support in enhancing student outcomes is clearly a success. CLC AMP Teen Life Coaches take a similar approach to success coaches by offering support and assistance to high school students in workforce development and education pathways. Today's college visit to Ohio Wesleyan University exemplifies how our coaches facilitate student growth opportunities. For many AMP participants, they are first-generation college students. For other students from immigrant families, this visit marked their first experience with American higher education. This exposure is pivotal in broadening horizons and paving the way towards future academic success. #AMP #levelup #TeenLifeCoaches #clcworks #CollegeBound #dreamteen

“Do boards matter??” “What if I will not end being in a good college??” This definitely makes me feel nostalgic when many of my juniors constantly asked me why a good #collegeadmission matters or said that they are not prepared for #boards. But what does an excellently ranked college like LSR, SRCC, Stephens, CBS do?? Are they academically the best? No, most of your seniors just attend the college due to attendance criteria. The #academics isn’t much different. What LSR did to me then?? Gave me an environment to #grow. The right set of peer who are not only academically superb but also have great skills and have been setting benchmarks for me/ others to take an #inspiration to actually work on. Behaviour is the function of the person in their environment B=f(P,E)———— #atomichabits (For eco and maths people) The so called good college won’t assure you a #securecareer as all might say but yes, it definitely gives you an atmosphere to strive and work hard that leads to a secure career. The active societies will make life super hectic and you will learn multiple-tasking. The weekdays will be with google meets and weekends with laundry and personal stuff. Struggle for first #internship, that too when some people in your batch will crack one, will teach the art of facing rejections and much more! It’s like starting the race with a head start and more goal driven mindset! PS: what your college did to you? Comment😌 #collegelife #boards #admission #du
