Housing to attract and retain, shelter and settlement patterns matter. The latter more so for building and sustaining healthy living and vibrate social life in thriving communities. Housing will be a competitive advantage to places seeking population to produce the goods and services that enable a strong economy. Developing the right kind of housing in the right ways to address climate change, sense-of-belonging desires, and affordability for our society's rising adult workforce is important work. The Navy understands how important a factor housing is for its mission. Below post indicates how we get after it.

Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at NAS Whidbey Island are getting an upgrade! To continue attracting and retaining the highest caliber personnel, the #Navy is updating its housing facilities to ensure maximum comfort, and adequacy, and improve the facility's useful life. This design-build renovation is replacing deteriorated facility components while ensuring all national life safety, seismic, and accessibility compliance requirements. Pictured below is Lloyd Potter, Facility and Engineering Acquisition Department Lead Engineering Technician, and prime contractor PacWest-Korte’s Project Superintendent observing the barracks.

Except everyone will request to live in the nice Whidbey Island (did an AT there), but they will get NAS Oceana or NAS North Island.
