Everyone has talents beyond what's listed on their resumes. Personally, one of my hidden skills is calling Bingo in front of 50+ people several times a month. It's all about the thrill of the game and the joy of bringing people together. What's your hidden talent? #talents #hiddenSkills #bingo #communityEngagement

Today's #feedbackfriday comes from Bartek Bukowski as he starts a new role. He approached me a while back as he wasn't able to gain any traction with his job applications. While I didn't have any positions matching his background at the time, we scheduled a call and discussed how to bring his considerable expertise to the fore and help his CV stand out against the crowd. I think his comments speak for themselves. If you're struggling to gain visibility in the market, let's have a chat and see how we can help. #candidatefeedback #candidateexperience #candidatetestimonial #feedbackmatters #candidatecare

What do you do when you see a post by someone you know or have worked with? 1. Nod or smile and move on. 2. Post a generic "good job" comment. 3. Write something personal that addresses something you appreciated about the work they did for you or your experience working with them. #3 takes longer, but it's also much more meaningful to the recipient and their business or career. (I'd have done a proper poll but could not get #3 down to 30 characters.)

🍌 “Growing and Hungry” 🍌 Jesse Cole blew me away. *adds Future Resume to interview process* 🍌 My favorite part was when he said “humans want to be coached, mentored and educated…” which is so incredibly true. I’m not triggered by the word training, but perhaps if we looked at the whole “training” process and got real intentional about who we bring on our team and how we coach, mentor and educate them throughout their entire journey with you, your turnover rate may look a wee bit different. #FansFirst #GrowingAndHungry #PersonalDevelopment #Growth #LeadersAreLearners

I can't sing but I don't have any delusions that I can. But like many X Factor contenders, many job seekers believe they're qualified for a job when they aren't. But it doesn't stop them from hitting the 'apply' button. Even when they don't possess "all" the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the job. They just have to BELEIVE they do before they consume someone's time to evaluate their resume. For the poorly performing X Factor contestants or unqualified jobseeker who have invested nothing in preparation, acquiring experience, or formal education/training, their investment is only a handful of minutes - to bomb in an audition or to click "apply." Interestingly, these are often the ones who protest the hardest when they're rejected for not having singing talent or the ability to perform the job. I received a webinar invite that plays into people's delusions. It read that you believe you're the winning candidate as you check all the boxes in the job post but then receive no response after you apply. (Hint: You aren't qualified.) It's why I don't post jobs on job boards. It's 99.9% of people who incorrectly judge their abilities who apply. While X Factor is looking for a needle in a haystack and profits from the good AND bad, the wise #recruiter needs their haystack to consist entirely of relevant needles and spend their time only with relevant needles as that's how they earn their fee. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://lnkd.in/g_PKjfd3" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Eve Online, a sandbox MMO developed by CCP Games, has a player voted council called the CSM (Council of Stellar Management). 10 players get voted in and last term (CSM18) CCP decided to pick two players that ranked 11 to 20. The CSM tend to be leaders within their communities or subject experts within the game. For myself, I'm known as a player recruiter, knowledgeable about new players who are onboarding into the game as well as a community builder. So I was honored to be one of CCP's picks for the last CSM. We're now at the time where CSM18 is ending and those of us running for CSM19 are campaigning for our players votes. Why is this important? I decided to do something a little crazy -- stretch myself as a content creator and community leader and interview as many of the 48 candidates that wanted onto my platform. I honestly didn't think that I'd get many candidates wanting to interview. Maybe 2 or 3. Ladies and gents, in the past 9 days I've knocked out 23 one hour interviews and still have 6 to go. I've been asked by a few people, since I'm running myself for a second term, why am I interviewing my competition? 1. There's 11 other seats that need to be filled. My community of 3100+ players needs suggestions on who else will represent their needs and play styles. 2. Eve is a community. I have a platform that is respected by the community as a whole, I want to share and see others succeed along side me. This is what leaders do. Right? 3. I've been thinking about upping my game as an Eve creator and go from game play videos to player interviews. This was the excuse I needed to get going. 4. Learning how to effectively interview other people is a great skill to have and can be added to my CV. In fact, I'm looking for a community builder job at the moment and this is another feather in my cap. It's been a lot of hard work and I'd love to get to bed on time instead of staying up late for the US time zone candidates, but the effort is being rewarded. https://lnkd.in/ej5imP6s Hobbies are a great way to practice real world skill sets! #communitybuilding #community #leadership #videogames #mmorpg #eveonline
