#keepiteal, if you are not a brand with nationwide saturation then you should be at all the large supplier trade shows you can where they can order right there your deal. Now the only time this does not make sense is if you have only one warehouse open, perhaps, that is not optimal. The shows are where you meet the buyers, meet the independents, meet the people that will help sell your brand, and they order there and then!. BUYING shows, means they can order right there, I would ALMOST say to skip EXPO and just do the UNFI and KEHE shows, you will see the ROI right in front of you. The shows also allow you to see the brand in a retail environment, meaning you see what the buyers are buying from your competition, see the trends, see if your brand has a future in reality.

In touching base with friends in the CPG industry, I've been asked quite a few times "Are you going to Expo West?" I considered it earlier this year and ultimately decided against it. Cost was one consideration. But even though the trip (badge, airfare, hotel and food) would likely come out to over $3,000, one new client relationship could easily pay for that cost (and potentially more). However, I harken back to my days on the brand side and having worked Expo East (confession: I've been to the now-defunt East multiple times but never West -- yeah, I know -- IT'S WAY BIGGER) on the brand side for Super Coffee, Garden of Flavor and Coconaise (an awesome Coconut Oil Mayo that should have been HUGE, but I digress). And having been on the brand side, if you are a brand I know you aren't spending a s--- ton of money to be pitched. Brands want to be doing the pitching to buyers. That's what it's all about. I don't want my first interaction with a brand to be perceived as a nuissance or a potential disruptor from them missing a key buyer that is flying around the convention floor. I've been fortunate - actually, BLESSED - that all my clients that have signed on with Brand Ambassador Consultants have been referrals. Obviously, if I want to grow my company I am going to need to engage in some sort of marketing and build out my network. However, as of now, my focus in terms of new clients outside of referrals will be para-social marketing. Para-social marketing is a term I first heard on Ryan R. Sullivan’s podcast. It is a practice of organically building relationships with brands through social media. It's a behavior I was engaging in before I heard the term but upon hearing Ryan offer a title for the practice and speak about its effectiveness, I've leaned into it and have actually triple-downed on it. So as much as I'd love to head out to Anaheim and catch up with old friends and make new ones, I understand what Expo is all about and it's not the right venue for me to pitch you on Brand Ambassador Consultants. Up to 95% of marketers believe that 𝐢𝐧-𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬. While the top five reasons are not surprising, the 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. Until recently, this indicator often appeared to our clients as a magic bargaining chip when deciding to become an exhibitor.
