The Value of Launching an Exceptional Product vs. an MVP From Rand Fishkin's (co-founder of Moz) perspective, first impressions matter—a lot. For this reason, he encourages others to take their MVP one step further toward being an EVP (an Exceptional, Viable Product). He claims to have seen many MVPs launch that hardly produce significant value and strongly believes this is highly problematic. After all, there are only so many times you can re-launch a product. In practice, Rand suggests making your MVPs in-house and dogfooding them internally and with a few customers. Gather feedback and iterate until the first internal and external users find that “A Ha” moment, then release it to the wild as an EVP. A. F.L.E.M - Imagine the crunch of pads as football players collide, the crack of the baseball bat after a homerun hit, or the swish of the golf club hitting off the tee. Most people will hear the sound & probably it'll conjures a memory, feeling, reaction, etc. For me the pads crunching made me remember my 1st trip to Chicago with my bff before we were bffs. We went to a Bears game! Some people will hear the sound, it'll conjure the thought/feeling and they'll take action. The Chicago memory triggered a desire to drink because we'd done that alot 🍻. Now I want to buy alcohol....<insert #productmanagement #strategy here>. As a #productowner you're putting yourself and your #agilemindset into your product. It has a stamp of authenticity (although possibly small & not easily visible) vouched by you. When you can pick up on these types of nuisances then you can understand how to add even more value for the stakeholders. It helps define the VOC without even having to ask the question. Data speaks volumes, but common sense & general observations can likewise be beneficial.

The Secret Sauce of Our Team: Insights from the first Kodebusters Offsite. Four months into working online, the Kodebusters team finally met in person. While our agenda initially filled with strategic planning and brainstorming sessions, we found ourselves hanging out, cooking together, and enjoying a hot tub in 3-degree weather. WANT AN UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE? DON'T USE A RECIPE! I'm still hearing people say that frameworks in #productmanagement are bad. It makes sense: if you want to do something, why not start from scratch and spend your effort recreating the wheel? Others' experience and insights can be so distracting! Get to work. If someone else figured it out, you can too! BTW, recipes are a type of framework. They give you guidance that you can deviate from based on your circumstances and preferences. What a waste! It makes much more sense to "trial and error" your way to a great souffle! NOT. I grow weary from the noise. BTW, don't come at me with "we shouldn't blindly follow frameworks."
