What advancements have been made in fire safety technologies since this tragedy and all of the other multiple fatality fires since ,including the Twin Parks fire tragedies where many residents couldn't even find their own fire exits that were within meters of their own door?... https://lnkd.in/g8xahsrG Why are we still trusting our lives by leaning so heavily on outdated technologies? ,especially in the age of synthetically fueled and lithium-ion fueled fires when there are next-generation emergency exit Identification,Guidance and emergency exit lighting solutions available to the industry to integrate into their own brands. https://lnkd.in/gF7rdeww The current 60-year-old legacy style smoke alarms and the 100-year-old method of emergency exit identification and guidance is no longer best practice ,nor fit for purpose now that the next-generation smart smoke alarms and emergency exiting Systems are available to industry... The current fire safety standards are no longer up to speed with the speed of the modern-day synthetically fueled fire.. this is evident considering up to 80% of fire related deaths are due to smoke inhalation and not necessarily from the flames themselves... All the public awareness campaigns and education on telling residents to get out as soon as possible becomes mute,when they can no longer see their own Exits... Today's synthetically fueled fires burn eight times faster and produce two hundred times more lethal smoke then ever did before... These chemicals may include hydrochloric acid, ammonia, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide. According the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), smoke is the killer in up to 80% of all fire deaths. Just 2 breaths of the hydrogen Cyanide filled smoke and you can become unconscious and just 2 more breaths can trigger a cardiac arrest.. This is why you may no longer have the option of rescuing anybody else that is still in the building, (A real life scenario) may be you hear somebody calling out through the thick smoke? You then call back to them through the smoke and attempt to find them. That's one breath.. Then if you reach them, just saying a simple let's go.. That's two breaths, now all of your vital organs have started shutting down due to the hydrogen Cyanide blocking oxygen from being absorbed into your vital organs and you may only be seconds away from becoming unconscious and two more breaths from cardiac arrest. Before the age of synthetics, you had 15 -17 minutes to escape a fire before flashover. Now you might have as little as 2-3 minutes to escape. And in the case of lithium-ion fires you may have as little as sixty seconds according to the (FSRI)...when every thing else fails occupants need a clear direction and a clear directive to escape, and without direction people perish.. https://lnkd.in/ghTzbqqy
