Keeping a close eye on #HurricaneMilton today as this one is making me uneasy...
While I am safe and not currently in an evacuation zone, many have already had to leave their homes behind with the uncertainty of what they'll be returning to. If you do not know where your nearest emergency shelter is, make sure you find out sooner rather than later. There are pet friendly shelters that provide SUPPORT (not supplies) and designated shelters for those with special medical needs - be sure to read the rules and requirements for each one before you go. Sign up on the Florida Dept. of Health Special Needs Registry if you haven't already done so to receive emergency medical assistance during a natural disaster: https://lnkd.in/e6xKNy64
There is a Jax Ready app for those in Northeast Florida to stay up-to-date on all incoming alerts as well as find helpful resources.
Stay alert, stay dry, and please stay safe. 🙏
Our hearts are with all those in Florida as they brace for the arrival of Hurricane Milton. 💙
The National Hurricane Center confirmed that Hurricane Milton has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes in recorded history for west-central Florida. With 165+ MPH winds, Hurricane Milton is currently a catastrophically strong Category 5 storm. And in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many Floridians, including Ocean Conservancy staff, are still recovering from disastrous storm surge, flooding and massive amounts of residual debris.
