A lot of retail candidates we’re speaking to are saying that some of the salaries being advertised simply aren’t enough – barely above minimum wage. I get it – businesses are feeling the pinch, but offering salaries in the low to mid-twenties for Store Manager roles? It’s not sustainable. 🛑 In today’s retail environment, where Store Managers are juggling operations, customer service, stock control, and team management, the salary has to reflect the responsibility. Paying just above minimum wage for such a crucial role often leads to higher turnover, low engagement, and an overall impact on team performance. What we’re seeing is that candidates are actively passing up on these opportunities – and if you’re wondering why your job ads aren’t getting the traction they used to, this might be a big reason.
