“The study, The Girls’ Index, shows a decline in girls’ confidence in math and science, with only 59% feeling proficient, down from 73% in 2017. Lisa Hinkelman, PhD, founder of ROX, emphasizes that societal messages undermine girls’ belief in their STEM abilities. The study suggests increasing visibility of female role models and creating inclusive environments to boost girls’ confidence.” We are facing huge workforce needs in STEM, a declining population, and increasingly complex problems. Attracting girls to STEM fields is essential for the continued success of our country.

The Campbell University Human Exploration Rover Team (HERT) is excited to announce we’ve been accepted into the 2025 NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge! Congratulations are also in order for CU’s newly formed Human Exploration Remote Operations (HERO) team, accepted for the inaugural year of NASA’s remote-control (RC) division of the Challenge. NASA accepted many fewer applications this year and only 10 worldwide for the RC division so we’re proud that both of CU’s teams were selected to compete.
