Knowing your team’s capabilities is required but may not be enough. An organization can move mountains when teammates support each other. Take a 150-person professional services company, in this case an accounting firm. It’s small enough to be nimble but large enough that not everyone knows each other and what other people are capable of. How would a tax manager new to the company and working on a technical tax issue know that a colleague in another office can answer the question in a five-minute phone call instead of spending six hours researching the issue? Having connectors within the firm that know everyone’s capabilities and internally published skills matrix should get the job done. The tax manager is supported, and the firm should realize higher profitability (especially if the engagement is fixed fee). The alternative is frustration and low productivity.

Discover more about what we offer by visiting our page.A Day In The LifeAs a Tax Accountant I you will: Compliance preparation of federal and state income and franchise tax returns for all affiliated companies including: Gathering and analyzing financial information and tax rules to calculate tax adjustments Reading tax form instructions to ensure that all information is reported correctly. Preparing supporting work papers Maintaining tax files Downloading computerized general ledger information into Excel spreadsheets and converting the data in the files into the form necessary to transfer data to One Source Bridge software. Processing tax returns through One Source GoSystem using Bridge Communicate and coordinate with accounting personnel / controllers to resolve any questions or issues that arise through data analysis. Assist tax senior in preparation of quarterly taxable income estimates (federal and state) and year -end basis calculations for all companies. Research issues relating to taxation of the various entities and shareholders. Assist accountants in the review of categorization and coordination of unique transactions. Assist with various special projects. Correspond to tax authorities concerning notices. What We Need From You Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from four-year college or university Req 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Ability to apply common sense.
