The future of education will reshape our understanding what to learn, how to learn and where to learn. Here's what I mean. While traditional teaching methods and standardized curriculums have been the norm for years, the future of education will prioritize personalized learning experiences for students. Education will be more about catering to individual needs and interests, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. It will take time, but the shift towards personalized learning will become the new standard within the next 3-4 years. The new school year brings new goals and a chance to do better. “The rise of newly personalized learning, more robust career-connected pathways, and culturally relevant curricula are promising means of improving student engagement and attendance. As is the recognition of the need to center student voice in learning and in the broader ways that schools and communities function.” Defined can help with increasing engagement and attendance.

Resisting the need to measure student learning, in all its forms (including beyond the ones that are easy to measure) has led us here: "This slow-walking of a learner-centric model by many higher education stakeholders has contributed to a lack of preparedness on the part of higher education institutions for these existential and future-focused challenges:  1. Competition from alternative credential providers outside academia  2. Misalignment of academic credentials and degrees with actual workforce needs  3. Misunderstanding and fear of artificial intelligence’s role in higher education  4. Devaluing the documentation and artifacts of demonstrable learning, wherever and whenever this learning occurs  5. Measuring institutional effectiveness and worth by the credit hour"
