In the days and months to come, there will be many posts surrounding the devastation following Hurricane Helene and it will become readily apparent that people want to help - need to help. Please Please be careful. Disaster fraud is real and there are bad actors out there who will take advantage of this. Before you donate, please do your research. The American Red Cross is always your safest bet, HOWEVER, there are plenty of other folks out there on the ground that need your help to get aid to the ones that need it - just make sure they are legit. According to the FTC, you can check on give.org, charitynavigator.org, charitywatch.org or guidestar.org.

Charlotte-based Bojangles' Restaurants, Inc. raised $150,000 for #HurricaneHelene relief in #WesternNorthCarolina. Jose Armario, the CEO of the fast-food chain, presented the check to representatives for the American Red Cross. The nonprofit will use the money to support hurricane-damaged communities. "We’re inspired by the resilience of our communities and humbled by the resounding way our customers showed up for our neighbors," Armario said. To raise the money, Bojangles donated 10% of its October sales earned from Heart-Shaped Bo-Berry Biscuits. Customers were also given the option of rounding up their totals so their extra money could go toward #hurricanerelief. Also in October, the Bojangles Foundation donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross for on-the-ground disaster relief.
