It's not just the children who benefit from Chapter One UK's online reading volunteers programme. Amanda Blevins at Fidelity International explains how the experience has improved her skills, "Professionally, it has enhanced my communication skills and empathy towards others. It has helped me lead with more confidence. No matter how stressed I am during my working day, Jullya manages to distract me in a good way, and I will often find solutions to things I was struggling with after our reading session." “Chapter One is a great opportunity to actively contribute to a child's learning on a programme that isn't just for one day.” Amanda Blevins and Carleene Watt are two of the 39 volunteers at our Silver Partner Fidelity International who collectively provided 356 hours of one-to-one reading support to Chapter One children this school year. Find out what Amanda and Carleene have to say about their experience of volunteering with Chapter One: https://lnkd.in/e9Vmwz-d Amanda and fellow Fidelity International volunteers Lesley Davidson and Rebecca Whentringhame recently got to meet their pupils at an end-of-year reading celebration at Earlsmead Primary School in Haringey, London. 😀!!Yadsendew yppah !!YAD DRAWKCAB LANOITAN 🤪 .yad doog a si sihT January 31st honors everything backward with National Backward Day. The day provides an opportunity to reverse our ways, our direction or simply our shirt. Dessert 🍰for breakfast, perhaps? There are many ways to celebrate this fun day, so just let your imagination be your guide. #NationalBackwardDay This day is very popular with school-aged kids👧, but there is no age limit on who can participate in all of the backward fun. So EVERYONE, let’s have some fun!! 🤩 FUN FACT: Leonardo da Vinci wrote backward. Not only did the artist and inventor write from right to left, but he also wrote his letters backward. Turth be told....perhaps he was dyslexic in an age when no one understood dyslexia? HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL BACKWARD DAY: 🚪Go out the back door. 🥩Have dinner for breakfast and breakfast 🍳for dinner! ( One of my favorites!) 🙂Instead of coming unglued when you're upset, get glued. ☕Add coffee to your milk. (Which reminds me of kinder coffee.) 🍨Add ice cream to your chocolate. (WHY, ruin my chocolate?) 👀Do your work in reverse order. (Obviously, this cannot apply to most situations.) 🫤Say, "Goodbye," instead of "Hello," when answering the phone. 🤙Twiddle your pinkies, not your thumbs. 👔Wear your shirt backward. ( note: you may have to have your wife button it!?)😆 📖Explore backward language by reading 5 Backward Ways to Use Words. 😀Do things backward and use #NationalBackwardDay to post on social media. Can you think of other ways to 'etarbelec" this day?? !erahs esaelP #naplumbingllc #northamericanplumbing #masterplumber #repairs #toilets #sinks #showers #bathtubs #kitchens #bathrooms #pipes #disposals #sinkerator #quality #meridianville #toney #hamptoncove #madison #huntsville #hazelgreen

Service doesn't just change the world — it shapes the lives of those who serve. Through our gap year experiences, we hope to discover how service can be a pathway to personal growth, community connection, and lifelong purpose. When you engage in meaningful service, you're not just giving — you're growing. How has service shaped your life? - Ryan & Thomas Growney #NewServiceAcademy Image description: Against a dark blue background, a white box displays the words "Service Shapes Lives," echoed by receding layers of the same sentence, copied, which fade into transparency at the back of the white box. Behind the white box, the words "Youth Service" are repeated over and over horizontally, in an orange Varsity/Letterman-style font.

Read more about Ali Huntoon, Co-Founder of Allied HR Solutions!
💛New in Stories💛 Aligned with Love: Meet Ali Huntoon “I grew up in Bay City and attended Bay City Central. I was definitely always a more outgoing dance, choir and theater kid, but I didn’t get involved in other groups outside of school or do much volunteering. High school was fun, but I felt I had to be a particular person, look a certain way, and follow specific paths. After high school, I attended Alma College. It wasn’t until my junior year of college that I realized I could do whatever I wanted—I could reinvent myself as many times as needed. I often tell people now, “You’re never too old, and it’s never too late.” It’s all possible, whether it’s starting a new hobby, building your own family, or becoming a different version of yourself. During my junior year, I finally started coming into my own. I started coming out of my shell more and doing things that my inner child loved - like wearing tie-dye shirts all the time just because I loved them. From that point on, I embraced doing my own thing.” -Ali Huntoon Read the full story on our site https://lnkd.in/gizHxw3u and learn even more about Ali on The Max Loves Midland Show, Learn even more about Ali, which drops 09/04!
