𝐒𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐟'𝐬 𝐎𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 Royal Troon hosts this year's 152nd Open Championship and the final "major" in 2024 professional golf. The R&A focuses on leading sustainability in its championships through its GreenLinks framework. Among other initiatives, The Open Water Initiative was enhanced through a first-ever "water wall" at The 150th Open Championship at Saint Andrews. This led to saving the equivalent of more than 370,000 plastic bottles at The Open since 2019. Meanwhile, it enhances the spectator experience! https://lnkd.in/ehCCCF6b #sustainablegolf #openchampionship #golf #sustainability #sports #sustainablesport #water #sustainabledevelopment

🌧️🏌️♂️ Impact of recent heavy rains on UK golf courses In the past week, the UK has experienced unusually (it's not that unusual now though is it!) heavy rains, bringing both challenges and opportunities to our golf courses. As we navigate the aftermath, it's essential to recognise the resilience and dedication of the golf community in responding to these weather extremes. With flooded courses across many parts of the country, play has been difficult if not impossible, and the continuous rain is likely leading to further turf damage, increasing soil erosion and highlights the need for improved drainage systems. What a near thankless task for the greens teams! However it also serves as a reminder and opportunity to highlight the measures that many courses are putting in place to mitigate and minimise damage and expedite recovery. The golf communities resilience and support is crucial, and is something for us golfers to remember as we head out on to the sodden fairways and greens this weekend. #Golf #Sustainability #Community #Scotland #WeatherImpact #Resilience
