Here are some tips to keep them safe and calm: Create a Safe Space: Set up a cozy, quiet area in your home where your pet can feel secure. Include their favorite blanket, toys, and some treats. Stay Indoors: Keep pets inside during fireworks. The loud noises can cause them to panic and try to escape. Distract with Noise: Play some calming music or turn on the TV to help drown out the sounds of the fireworks. Comfort Them: Spend time with your pets to reassure them! Use Anxiety Aids: Consider using pet-safe anxiety aids like Thundershirts, calming sprays, or treats designed to reduce stress. Here are some essential warnings and tips to keep your pets safe this July 4th: 💙 🐾Keep Pets Indoors: Fireworks and loud noises can frighten pets, leading to anxiety and attempts to escape. Keep them indoors in a safe, quiet room. 🐾Create a Calm Environment: Use calming aids like anxiety wraps, pheromone sprays, or play soothing music to help your pets feel more secure. 🐾Avoid Human Food: BBQs and parties often involve foods that are toxic to pets, such as chocolate, grapes, and alcohol. Keep food and drinks out of reach. 🐾ID and Microchip: Ensure your pets are wearing identification tags and are microchipped in case they get lost. 🐾Fireworks and Pets Don’t Mix: Keep fireworks, sparklers, and glow sticks away from pets to prevent burns, ingestion, and other injuries. 🐾Watch for Signs of Stress: Panting, pacing, hiding, and excessive barking are signs your pet may be stressed. Whatever faith or culture you are from, for many of us there is an emphasis at this time of year on family... but for some this highlights a person, or people, who might be missing from around the table. One of the things I help people with is the balance between honouring family traditions, connections with those who are still in our lives, and remembering the person or people who have died. Key dates will mean different things for each of us but we can all choose which past traditions we want to keep going forwards, which ones no longer fit with the current circumstances and any new traditions we want to create.
