The Marie Curie PHABB (PatHogens of Algae or Biocontrol and Biosecurity) project is now recruiting 10 PhD students across 9 European institutions. The overall aim of the project is to develop the tools and concepts needed to design new, sustainable solutions for the biocontrol of harmful algae by their pathogens, and for the control of diseases in cultivated macroalgae. To this end, PhD students will study the biological and evolutionary processes linked to microbial community dynamics, the virulence and host specificity of pathogens targeting these algae, both in freshwater or marine environments. This new knowledge will be applied to the development and implementation of new biosafety, biocontrol and disease control strategies. The link to the dedicated website and the list of projects are here: https://lnkd.in/es47V8Uk https://lnkd.in/ePHyPhxE Please note that to be eligible, candidates must not already be in possession of a thesis, nor have resided for more than one year in the last three years in the country where they will be hired for their thesis (except for compulsory national service and refugees under the Geneva Convention). In return, the consortium foresees a unique training program, highly motivating mobility opportunities in other universities and in the private sector, as well as an attractive remuneration package. Feel free to pass on this information to your networks. I'm also fully available to answer informal enquiries from potential applicants.
